Check out ESPN preview, Joe Lunardi thinks we can't win!

Also an article from Michigan paper regarding how Michigan coach refers to the name of our beloved school.

Come on, be fair to Lunardi.  He said that the game would be close throughout but that Michigan would prevail in the end.  He also touted the MAC for improving this year.

On the opposite of Lunardi.......

Ohio was featured in the "Giant Killers" formula as the 5th most likely upset:

No. 13 Ohio vs. No. 4 Michigan (Midwest)
Predicted chance of upset: 22.4 percent

The method to the formula:

Giant Killers tend to play a higher risk/reward game than their losing mid-major counterparts.

That means they tend to excel in at least one of a few key areas. They take a lot of 3-pointers and connect at a high percentage. They force a lot of turnovers and protect the ball when they have possession. They dominate the offensive glass and hold their own on the defensive boards. The best Giant Killers embody many of these qualities, and, when you think about it, it makes perfect sense that those strategies lead to upsets.

Similarly, high seeds that are more vulnerable to upsets tend to have common traits. They struggle in the same key areas where Giant Killers thrive: turnover margin, offensive rebounding and 3-point defense, in particular. And they also tend to rely too much on free throw shooting for their scoring margin, and not enough on 2-point buckets.

My high school basketball coach had an old saying.....There are two things that don't last: Dogs that chase cars and teams that don't make free-throws.

Lunardi may be right, but where does he get his reasoning? "...might have blown themselves out with the dramatic finish against Akron"? uh... didn't we need overtime and another dramatic finish two years ago?
