...get a load of yesterday's UCLA-Texas game played at Reliant Stadium in Houston, official attendance 2,797:

We will get by.
We will get by.
We will get by.
We will survive.

Pardon my ignorance, but what, exactly, was the point of that?

UCLA really doesn't deserve all the success that program has had. Kind of like Miami's professional sports franchises.

Beaches and fan support don't mix, I guess.

As for Texas, that whole athletic department seemed to tank the moment The Longhorn Network was announced. Performance anxiety, or something.

You really think we have a problem filling seats? Sure, the Convo is a basketball monstrosity, but relative to our peers we are doing exceptionally well. Check out the latest MAC attendance standings through yesterday's games...

1. Ohio...6,180
2. Toledo...3,689
3. Buffalo...3,662
4. Ball State...3,095
5. Akron...2,802
6. Western Michigan...2,429
7. Kent State...2,329
8. Central Michigan...1,755
9. Miami...1,567
10. Bowling Green...1,542
11. Northern Illinois...1,330
12. Eastern Michigan...1,213

We're very fortunate to have a large (and growing) fanbase. For most of these schools, the crowds seem to get worse and worse every year.

We have the numbers to be an A-10 school. If we where to play Dayton, Xavier, Butler, Richmond, VCU, St. Bonnie, and some other A-10 basketball schools we would average I bet around 7,500, and for the Dayton and Xavier game at home we would easily have over 10,000 fans.

Uhhhhh yeah ....last A 10 game I went to was in a 4K stadiumwas last weekend. We are a lot more accessible than
Olean NY and have much better numbers than a lot of the a 10. Do we feel that would be a good fit financially as in what is their tv revenue and do we want to incur the travel costs and send our kids on those really difficult roadies on a regular basis.

For argument's sake, we would compare very favorably to the A-10:

1. Dayton...12,274
2. Xavier...9,828
3. VCU...7,693
4. Butler...6,418
5. OHIO...6,180
6. St. Louis...5,908
7. Temple...5,788
8. Charlotte...5,689
9. UMass...5,439
10. Richmond...4,820
11. Rhode Island...4,210
12. St. Bonaventure...4,061
13. St. Joseph's...3,971
14. La Salle...3,096
15. Fordham...2,680
16. Duquesne...2,310
17. George Washington...1,692

On top of that, I've got to think we start drawing better with an A-10 type schedule. Dayton, Xavier and Butler would get the Convo rocking on an annual basis.

I think Dayton, Xavier, Butler, and VCU would get at least 8,000 fans (if students are in session) and St. Louis and UMASS would draw well too. It's sad for the fact we average 2,500 fans compared to other MAC schools. I don't know what the T.V. contract is between the two conferences, but right now i'm watching Kent State Vs. Xavier on FSO and I imagine their are about 7,500-8,000 fans in the Cintas Center.

Xavier or Dayton on a weekend may draw 10,000+ if both are having a solid season. Those teams would rank above any MAC opponent from an excitement factor. To be honest, almost all of the A-10 schools (outside of, say, Duquesne, George Washington and Fordham) would be more exciting than your average MAC opponent.

Well, they have had success. So why wouldn't they deserve it?

From my understanding, every venue that is part of the NCAA Tournament has to host at least one game during the regular season.

Duquesne is also hosting WVU at home and had a game against Pitt.

I think both of those are across the street in the Big House they share with Pitt (not sure what they call that place) and that  becomes a nuetral court game for them .

They are the low major getting paid to be a patsy right now and look forward to raking in  much of the gate with the crowds WVU and Pitt will bring to town.
