ON a positve note add another to the list of consecutive games that Ivo has NOT attempted a free throw. I think it now stands at 17. I've become convinced he would not attempt to take it to the hoop if the lane  parted like the Red Sea for him. He would stop and pass it back out OR take a turn-around jumper. Incomprehensible!

If I'm Jim Christian, I'm telling Ivo that if he does not shoot at least five free throws against Oakland, Reggie will start in his place against Winthrop.

He did air ball a free throw last year....can't remember which game (and actually it could've been his sophomore year).  Maybe he is afraid to get fouled in the act of shooting.

I agree with Shab.  Its just ridiculous for a big man.  Force him to attack the rim and he might just find some confidence going forward in that department.

His fave shot seems to be that turn around fade away.....hard to foul someone falling down.

The blocking foul they called on him early on was pure BS.  That was a charge, pure and simple.  He wouldn't have gone to the line, but it would've been nice to see them call one the other way for him.  He needs to come at the rim more, like he was doing last year.  He was hanging out at the perimeter a lot today, and he's just not a 3-pt shooter.

This thing is starting to resemble Joe Dimaggio's consecutive game hitting streak -- something very rare and not likely to be duplicated.  This is not the only strange stat for Ivo.  The other is that he's really been playing like a shooting guard this year.  He posts up outside so much and hardly ever drives to the basket or plays post up.  Perhaps, J.C. is getting him ready for his new role when Kadeem Green takes the floor in a few weeks.  That's the only logical explanation that I can come up with.

Ivo did take it to the hoop for a dunk today. He seemed pretty excited about it too. Maybe he'll remember that and try it again against Winthrop. I'm not gonna hold my breath though.

He DID take it to the hoop of a great pass from DJ..However he also took a 12 footer from the right side when the entire defense of Oakland was on the left side of the basket.  He had a very clear path to the basket that would have ended in either a dunk or a foul or both...He made the shot, by the way.

Maybe if someone told Ivo he didn't have to take the conventional free throw but could "fade away it.," he'd feel more comfortable and take the ball to the hole.

He had the defender beat by at least a solid step on that break - didn't have time to pass, and momentum was to great to pull up and shoot a J, so he dunked and did his best Devo impression............

Hate the outside shooting  and agree he needs to go to the basket but  actually he is leading the team in 3 pt shooting %.

Way back in high school I struggled at times with free throws.  I would mess around at practice inside the half-circle with all kinds of moves, settling on the between the legs dribble with a jump shot from the right side of the circle...Coach said that I could count on not making any free throws if I persisted...because I would not be playing.

That was sickening. He should have drove to the lane and dunked it with some force, instead he did a little fade away jumper. It's beyond ridiculous at this point.

The one that really made me scratch my head was when he pump faked his guy at the elbow, got him to jump straight up in the air and didn't jump into him to draw the foul on the up-and-under play.  Instead, Ivo, threw a bounce pass to a back door cutter on the baseline.  The only problem?  Nobody was cutting baseline because they expected him to take it up.  I really don't understand why he has become so timid about trying to execute moves he was so good at last year.

Freshmen Year - 26 for 52 (50%) in 421 minutes
Sophomore Year - 94 for 120 (78.3%) in 900 minutes
Junior Year (before 2/8) - 43 for 84 (51.2%) in 660 minutes
Junior Year (after 2/8) - 1 for 2 (50%) in 354 minutes
Senior Year (to date) - 0 for 0 (N/A) in 262 minutes

Before the transformation, he averages a FT attempt every 7 minutes or so.  Now we are at 1 every 308 minutes.

I still think the idea that he is simply does not want to go to the free throw line shouldn't be completely dismissed.  On 1/28 vs Ball State, he airballed a free throw in the Convo.  He went 5 for 10 after that before starting the streak.  He shot a sparkling 78.3% his sophomore season and fell to 51% the next year, culminating in the airball.  Ivo doesn't seem like the type of guy to let something like that get in his head, but to go on a streak like this would almost require an explicit attempt to avoid getting fouled.

In Ivo's defense, as his FT and rebounding numbers have went down, his 3 pt, assist, blocks, and steals have all trended in the good direction.  It truly is a transformation...has anyone asked coach about this yet?

And since he's brought his game more to the perimeter his numbers and the teams success has improved.

Wilkens had the open baseline but did not go. Looked to me like they had eye contact before the pass, Wilkens froze..........
