Women's BB Program

Anyone else think it's time for a change in the Women's BB Program? What's this her 4th year and her 4th loosing season?
We need a change.
With the other key sports continue to perform better this one is not keeping pace.

It's not the popular sports, so screw them! Who cares about women's basketball? Or swimming? Or volleyball? Or track? Why do we even have them?

Women's basketball is a core MAC sport. Absolutely we've got to strive for a strong program. A strong WBB would help build donations from women bobcat alumni.

2010 97-83 win over Georgetown in NCAA 1st round
2012 45-13 victory over ULM in the Independence Bowl
2015 34-3 drubbing of Miami @ Peden front of 25,086

I think it's nice to have a strong program, but if it's a "zero sum" game - I'd rather the majority of time and resources go to football and men's basketball. Those are your best opportunities for gaining national exposure and furthering the university.

I don't think anyone is suggesting we put all of the football money into women's basketball. I think the best solution is for all of our teams to win.

If you're an OU women's basketball fan, odd are you're likely a bigger OU men's basketball fan. I support both programs, but it's not like I'm traveling to Kalamazoo to watch the women's team.

We charge money for tickets to women's basketball games. More wins leads to more interest which leads to more money. Simple as that. There are MAC schools with well-supported women's programs. Look at Toledo and BG women's basketball. Look at our volleyball team.

This is a no-win discussion. A winning women's basketball team will have virtually zero impact on campus. Just the same, a losing women's basketball team has had virtually no impact on the down side. There is no arguing that the program is a total disaster right now, but I'm personally not reducing my giving to either the Ohio Bobcat Cub or the university as a result.

Before this turns into a full-blown argument about Title IX, I'll say I do enjoy some women's sports. I think our volleyball and field hockey programs have been great and are a source of pride around campus. When watching women's basketball, however, I always find myself thinking it is slow, sloppy and generally unwatchable compared to the men's game. It's not the same game I have played my whole life. Attendance figures nationally (excluding UConn for some reason) would support my stance.

Going to a few games does not absolve you of your attitude that those kids do not matter! And that is exactly the attitude that you exhibited above in this thread.
