i dont understand what your trying to tell us.

I'll tell ya where we'll go. Someplace warm. A place where the beer flows like wine. Where beautiful women instinctively flock like the salmon of Capistrano. I'm talkin' bout a little place called... ATHENS.

And golf is a noun, not a verb. You go play golf, you do not go golfing. You don't go tennising, you play tennis.

Might I add that "notoriety" has a negative connotation, as in notorious.  It does not refer to fame or popularity in a positive sense.  Killers are "notorious".

Exactly, LongDistance.

Also, it is not the man 'that' took the shot....it is the man 'who' took the shot.....'That' refers to objects.  For people, use "who."

Can we also add that "I" is never the object of a preposition.  It's "me" dammit!

Which begs me to point out one of the reasons that this thread even exists.  Education and example, or lack thereof.

Actual sign hanging outside the main office of Reynoldsburg, Ohio High School three years ago among a list of traits that the administrators there hoped to instill in their students:

"Unanxious Anticipation".

The fact that I still don't know what that means (in their minds) makes me worry for myself but, fortunately, I am unanxious about when the realization will come.

One of my pet peeves is the expression "Commit random acts of kindness."  If one intentionally "commits" an act of kindness, meanness, or whatever, it is not by definition random! Don't get me wrong, I'm all for acts of kindness, I just like for folks to do them by volition not by unintentional accident.

Spelling gaffes are pretty good also. Feel Free to post. Saw this one from nearby Weirton Times...  regarding the recent loss to Syracuse. Ain't that the sh*t.

If you're in the Columbus area, check out Channel 4's news graphics.  In any given broadcast you're likely to see two or three typos and grammatical errors.

One I have noticed in recent years is a lack of understanding of the past tense. For example: "I am pi**" instead of  "I am pi**ed."  I have noticed this both in verbal conversation as well as text.

My pet peeve these days is when people say "verse" rather than "versus."  Seems to be an age thing, though Mike Golich on "Mike & Mike" said it this morning.
