Have no idea how Holt missed that shot at the buzzer.
Reg+DJ=Beast Mode

We won this game with IVO and Walt combining for 3 points.
Remarkable.

PS Been a long time since I remember DJ attacking the rim like he did tonight...great to see.

anyone else think nick didn't want the ball in his hands the last 5 minutes of this game?

his confidence looks shot right now. with the zone, why not throw wilkins out there. isn't he a zone buster?

He missed those two open threes in a row and I think mentally he was done after that.   Walt looked like he wanted no part of the ball in the last ten minutes either.  There were several times where it looked like he could have easily taken his man off the dribble but he passed it up.  Luckily both stayed focused on the defensive end.

Dave Cecutti said we went in there and stole one.

Dave Cecutti should not be on television.

No.  We are too inconsistent, don't play hard enough at points, let the other side get to the rim unguarded too often.

Yes, we're undefeated in league.  But is it too much to ask for us not to have 'dead spots' consistently and for prolonged periods.

I increase Wilkins minutes until he proves that he doesn't deserve that.  He seems to play fundamentally sound in a way that exactly exposes the other sides' weaknesses.

Meanwhile, a forlorn woman packs up her blue and yellow balloons and leaves M.A.C. Center to go home to her many, many cats and a throat lozenge.

Both announcers were horrible tonight.   At one point we are up one in the first half and Reghi is talking about how much Kent is doing everything they want.   From the way they were talking you would have thought it was a 15 point deficit.

I should add that I while he's not good I will take Cecutti 100 times out of 100 over Steve Mix.

He really is bad. That whisper voice he uses is downright creepy. On the bright side I only counted Reghi use the plural versions of Ohio and Kent State 27 times tonight. (Ohio's Bobcats & Kent State's Golden Flashes.) Thats a new broadcast low for him.

She's been there for years. Do people always forget about her? People talk about this every year as if it's the first time.

I was hoping the mic crew could figure a way to fade her out... she was persistent.

I can honestly say that it's the first time I've ever noticed her.  She just accentuated the fact that their crowd was really quiet for most of the game.

Back to basketball.   DJ was a friggin man today.  Reggie was darn good as well but DJ really took that game over when no one wanted to do anything.   Ricardo Johnson would be my third star.  He's really coming on.

Not being Steve Mix is the best thing about Dave Cecutti. Of course that's like saying the best thing about crabs is that it isn't ebola.

I understand Monroe's frustration with "dead spots,"  but I watched Duke have a 40 minute dead spot the other nite.  We're far from perfect, and never will be.  All I ask is that the kids give good effort and represent the school well.  They've done a pretty good job of that the last few years...

And of course, when the other team gets 26 free throws and you only take 10, you will NEVER win by much.  The guys deserve kudos for making 8 of 10...probably wouldn't have won otherwise.

The ending:  Surprised they didn't call a foul underneath there.  Quite a bit of bumping going on during the rebound.

The game:  Any time you're outrebounded 36-21 (including 11-3 offensively), have 16 fewer FT tries, hit only 5 of 20 3s to their 6-12, and blow an 8-pt lead in the last five minutes, and still win on the road in a place you've won once in 11 years, you've got character.  The zone really gave Ohio fits.  Lots of passes that were turning into shots vs. Fiami were off the mark tonight, making the catches off-balance and leading to other passes.

The screamer: I heard the same sound during another game and thought it was something they were putting on the PA system.  After a Kent bucket they cut to a shot of her as she was screaming.  Nothing to look at but she would be a good date tonight because she wouldn't say a word.

The announcers:  Par for the course.  STO is biased for Kent/Akron first, Ohio teams vs. non-Ohio teams second.

We will get by.

I don't like the guy either, but if I heard correctly, they beat us by 15 on the boards and shot 16 more FT's than we did.  Their best player had a pretty open look from almost the Shaq circle down 1 with time expiring.  I don't want to take anything away from what we did, but we were lucky to take the W.

Freaking amazing is what it is. If Groce was coach there would be several "don't flinch" posts on here. Awesome crazy win.

Obvious travel on the last Kent possession. Kent fans behind me flat-out trashing their coach. How do you not save a timeout for the final 30 seconds of the game? Their #5 played like a numbskull in the second half and fritters away whatever talent he has on stupid play.

Also: Tall, bald ref ... you are horrible. The officiating on both sides was terrible. It's like they decided to call the first half for Kent's favor and do the complete opposite in the second. Plus, two identical plays (one for either team) where a guard gets called for a charge, but ours counts and theirs doesn't? Not that I mind at all, but tonight's crew was pathetic.

Still, they missed a travel on Kent's last possession.

Amen, Bro!  That broadcast team tonight overall was a breath of fresh air. Reghi always studies the teams he's broadcasting and generally knows what he's talking about.  He's a student of the MAC.  To me it doesn't appear that he feels like he's been sent down to the minors and, therefore, has a chip on his shoulders.  He really seems to like the league and is proud to be broadcasting the game.  Though not as dynamic; he's kind of the Dick Vitale of the MAC.  Well, at least that's my opinion, Baby!

Teams not from Portage or Summit Counties this PM came up on the real short side in foul shot attempts.

How can you be 6 ft 9 and have only one offensive rebound and score zero points?  Didn't these guys get schooled in Bobcat lore where a young Walter Luckett said he'd get 10 to 12 a game just hangin around?

I will admit the one offensive rebound he did grab may have been the game saver because it lead to a score.

Kent coach going to the zone and gambling Ohio would not connect was the only thing that made this game close (and the foul shot disparity) because DJ and Reg were killing em in the paint.

Fun to sit near the Reg family fan club while he was having himself a big game!

Here is the Kent screamer or their "Super Fan" http://faculty.jmc.kent.edu/glhanson/BBR/ShowVideo.asp?ID...

Interesting to see Christian on the story too as he was the coach at Kent when this was filmed.
