I think internet search bots sometimes cause unexplainable rushes at times, not sure if that is what happened here.

BA is sitting at 310 right now.

That's correct...it's generally Google crawling the site when the number balloons that high.  Each crawler that spawns off while following a different link generates another session on the website.  They generally get-in and get-out within 10-15 minutes and usually do that about once a week or so.
