I shared almost an identical account of this from a game at Peden this past fall. Although I'm not sure it was an Ohio student with the poor math skills. Just had a classroom discussion with my fifth graders about how information is power and had the students share examples of real life situation where this is true. I might add this situation to our afternoon class discussion. I  was at a winery and inquired about a possible discount to buy 4 cases. The college girl (OSU) that was helping me said they give a 10% discount for a case. She paused for a moment in thought and then continued that if I bought 4 cases that would be 4 x 10% discount so they would give me 40% off of 4 cases. I tried to buy 10 cases from her but the Manager got involved.
