Does anyone know when the MAC/TV will make up their mind on which game will be on Friday?  I know we have covered this before, but I believe it is STO that has taken each MAC game hostage and they will just pick 1 to air while the rest move to Saturday the 9th?  One would think Kent @ Akron would be the obvious choice.

It affects how I set up my work travel schedule whether or not the game is on Friday evening, so I was just wondering if anyone knows when they will finalize it.

That game, like the Kent game, is a 21 day  "wildcard" game.  So by my math, the 19th of February would be around the time when they decide on that.

I thought the question was whether Miami is the 8th or 9th best team in the conference, a legitimate question.

A legitimate question, but an insanely boring topic to discuss.

Thanks for the info Country.

That's correct, and for what it's worth, it's ESPN2 on Friday, there are a couple STO slots Saturday.

That's good to hear - a few days ahead of when they're scheduled to HAVE to tell us.  I can finally plan that weekend.  Here's a question regarding that game - are they calling that game "Senior Night", or the Akron game since students will be on campus for the Akron game.

I've always argued for Senior Night to be the last home game while classes are still in session.  Gives the best opportunity for a very large, very appreciative crowd.  Then they could have something like a Fan Appreciation Night for a final home game that's played when students are gone.  But it doesn't happen in football.  I cringe when I think of Senior Days that are held during the Black Friday games, with just friends and family in attendance.  Not a great sendoff for the seniors.

I completely agree with your thoughts. All seniors, but particularly THIS group of seniors, deserves that "very large, very appreciative crowd" for Senior Night.  I hope that the OUAD staff does this.

I asked about this - Senior Day will be the Miami game. Sounds like it was Coach Christian's decision...he didn't want to have any additional distractions before the Akron game. Understandable, I suppose...

Not that it would matter, sometimes they reschedule, there are District High School games scheduled on 3/9 at 5p-7p-9p.

The h/s tourney schedule is in flux until the TV time is set.  Cats could get a Saturday TV slot from STO if the ESPN doesn't work out.  Stay tuned, I guess.

According to Matt Sarzyniak (MattSarzSports.com) on Twitter, ESPN2 has picked up Kent St. at Akron on the 8th.

Is it being inferred that HS games would control the timing of Ohio Basketball?  It would bother me if the Cats had to play Friday night so HS hoops happens Saturday.  OUr home court, not theirs.  All speculation, I know.

Lazy. Pick another game, ESPN.

No, it's the other way around.  The h/s games have to adjust; Bobcat games take precedence.

Akron-Kent kinda seemed like a no brainer to me.

And now we wait to hear from STO to dictate the game time?  I would guess they would want our game in their 4:00 or 6:00 slot.

It's been Akron-Kent for years, and for several of those, it's been a true no-brainer. This season, less so -- I think we'd have had a real shot, with Kent being down. I genuinely think the slot went to the winner of our game with Akron, and had we won I bet we'd be on the deuce on Friday. They like crowning champions and using that race to talk up Championship Week -- this gives them the best mathematical bet, even though I hate it.

Also, the STO slots on Saturday are noon and 4pm.

It's not that Akron/Kent is a wonderful game this year, it's just that the other games they had to pick from aren't much good either.  They have to know Miami is struggling and we will handle them like we did in Oxford.  At least Kent still has a shot.

Or how about the MAC shuffles the schedule up for different last weekend match-ups?

I dunno, I kinda like the idea of giving Kent the extra motivation of preventing Akron from winning the regular season title.  Then making Akron watch Ohio on STO to see the Cats win it outright.
