Watching Coop last night...it really sunk in for me that we are witnessing greatness, and while I am excited for the stretch run...The thought of only seeing Coop in the Convo 2 more times and just 6+ more games total kind of makes me want to cry like a baby.  Forget all the historic record-breaking stats and team success - He is just so much fun to watch.  I feel at ease when he has the ball, and can't wait to see what he does with each possession.  I am really really gonna miss him.

So feel free to share your appreciation for D.J. as he winds down his career at Ohio.

I appreciated DJ's assist to the blindfolded guy trying to find Rufus last night for the promo!

He's just such a likeable kid, I will miss him for more than his basketball skills.

In Coop We Trust

I just know I'm going to embarrass myself at Senior Night this year. I should plan on bringing a box of kleenex with me.

It's basically impossible to quantify what DJ means to this team and has meant to this team for 4 years.  All I can say is I'm going to enjoy the last few games and will really miss that kid when he moves on to life after OU.

Can we just pin this as a permanent topic.  I have a feeling it is going to be a constant for the rest of this year and possibly the next couple years.

He earned the highest honor in OUr house last Sunday.  After being at the Kent State game, my four year old demanded to be referred to as "DJ Cooper" all day on Sunday.  So, in OUr house DJ has earned the same status as Superman, Batman and Spiderman.

Having met his mother and family, it is easy to see where he learned his life lessons.  Quality people all the way around. Thank you DJ and thank you Mrs. Cooper for sharing him with us.

A.) DJ Cooper isn't human.... Best guess part cyborg, part honey badger, part Chuck Norris and part smoke monster from Lost who has ice water for blood.

B.) Please Cavs draft him!

My 4 year old is ALWAYS DJ Cooper in any role playing game, not just basketball.  He has a stuffed animal named DJ Manitee Cooper.  His bath towel is called DJ Cooper.  He tells people his best friend is DJ Cooper.  We asked him on christmas eve who was coming to the house tonight and he said DJ Cooper.  I am trying to get him to understand he won't be here next year...I think he understands, but we'll see.  I asked him what he is going to do when Coop isn't here and his response was "DJ Wingfield!"  (I took him with me to one of his games n Dayton)

I have been fortunate to be able to see nearly every minute the DJ has played in the Convo, along with many games on the road.  He is a leader in addition to having the best court vision I have seen.  His confidence is off the charts, which is one of the things that makes him so fun to watch.  His defense is just as impressive to me as his passing and scoring.

I use replays of his passing to teach my boys proper technique, as well as the importance of seeing the entire court.  My oldest kid has worn #5 every season because of DJ.  He is truly a special player.

I hope he gets his degree finished before he leaves town, because his jersey should absolutely hang in the Convo.  He has been the leader of the most accomplished Ohio basketball team ever.

Sad to think that he only has 2 games left in the Convo! If we make it back to the NCAA Tournament, I think there's a strong argument that he is the BEST player in Ohio history.

And you could tell the first time you saw him play that he was something special. I'm still amazed how he can find the open man, as if he's the only person in the arena who sees him.

I remember telling my family before I attended Ohio (I'm a senior now) that Ohio would make the tourney at least once during my time here (mostly because of the incoming class my freshman year: Cooper, Baltic, Keely, Kenney).

They would all roll their eyes but after watching highlights of Coop in High School and seeing what he could do on the court, I honestly believed it was bound to happen.

But it was beyond my wildest dreams that we'd become one of the top mid-majors in the country during my time here, win 3 NCAA tournament games, 2 MAC Championships, and go to the Sweet 16.

A ton of that is due to DJ Cooper. And while a lot of people have gotten on him in the past, I truly believe he is the BEST player in Ohio basketball history (I never saw Trent play).

I consider myself lucky that my four years at OU coincided with Cooper's four years here and that I was lucky enough to be able to watch him do his magic at the Convo.

Hopefully he still has some magic in the tank for March!

For as great as Trent was, those teams didn't have the March success that this squad has enjoyed.  I believe we only made the NCAA's once when Trent played, am I right?  1994?  And that was a 1-and-done.  They won a Preseason NIT, but that was more or less it for outside the MAC success.  I think there's a strong argument right now, regardless of the postseason this year, Cooper is the best player in my lifetime at OU.

First time I saw DJ, I remember thinking omg, our new point guard looks like he's 12.

By the end of the game I was thinking I'd never seen a freshman play with such calm and confidence.

Athena, I took my then 9-year-old daughter to DJ's first game as a Bobcat. We were down low for warmups and we were both taken back by this new player and how much he looked like a middle-school student - both in size (150 lbs.) and in the face.

My now 6-year-old son and I have enjoyed watching him the past 4 seasons. His first interaction with DJ was during the Georgetown NCAA game. The first name of my son's best friend at pre-school was Cooper and while lying in bed that night he kept hearing me scream "Cooper" at every big shot/assist by DJ. My son asked my wife that night and me the next morning why I kept yelling at his best friend.

DJ evolved over the years into my son's favorite athlete (Brandon Phillips and Rey Misterio a close second and third). He still mentions meeting DJ at halftime of a football game this past fall.

Apples and oranges.  I can confidently say, D.J. is the best apple we've had since at least 1981.

If D.J. had been a Bobcat back then Trent would have scored 40 points a game.

I've been talking with friends all year about how special this group is, and how I don't want to miss any of their games. It didn't sink in until I realized that next week is the last time my wife & I will watch them together in The Convo. (she has to work on Senior Night)

Next year we will have some good players, and they'll be successful, but we won't hear the "ooohh's" and "aahh's" because of no look passes and nifty dribbling. We won't have the "oh no.....YEEEESSSS!!" moments from DJ's 30ft three point shots.  Yep we'll miss having that young man around.  He's the Best player I've seen don the Green & White.

I had a similar experience as some of you...it didn't really sink in till about halfway through this season that it's almost over.  I doubt that we will ever see a PG at Ohio again the likes of D.J. Cooper.  Without question he is one of the greatest players in Ohio University history.

He's always been very good.  But he has elevated his game to a whole new level this season.

I will miss this senior class.

This senior class and especially DJ has done so much to get the Bobcat name out in the national spotlight. Senior Night is going to be a special event and if it is not a sell out I will be thoroughly disappointed. I doubt there will be a dry eye in the Convo after that game.

I admitted this years ago. It wasn't until recently I realized it is an unhealthy man crush.  I live out of town and the other night I asked my girlfriend if she wanted to watch DJ play.  Her answer was "Absolutely!...I mean that has to be my answer if I want to keep dating you." A good judgement call on her part!  We then hooked the computer up to the TV and I yelled DJ! every time he had an assist, steal or bucket.  She got annoyed.
