Don't want to over exaggerate so soon after the game, but how do you rank this game in regards to regular season games at the Convo?  I've only been following for about 15 years, but I could only think of Tommy Freeman's game winner over Miami as a more thrilling finish.  I'm sure there are a dozen more I cannot remember, but this is definitely a Top 10 Regular Season Game finishes I've seen in the Convo the last 15 years.  Off the top of my mind, I'm thinking it comes in at #2.

Tommy Freeman at the buzzer by far is #1 for me.  I would say today's game comes in a close #2.  I'm sure the more veteran Ohio fans will have a different top 5.

I'll tell ya where we'll go. Someplace warm. A place where the beer flows like wine. Where beautiful women instinctively flock like the salmon of Capistrano. I'm talkin' bout a little place called... ATHENS.

I've been paying attention since 04-05. In that time, in no particular order, you have to mention:

-Freeman's buzzer beater over Miami
-Fears' buzzer beater over Detroit
-Bassett's buzzer beater over IUPUI (saw this one in person)
-Leon's buzzer beater over St. John's in the Hawaii tournament
-There was a game around 06 or 07 where Whitney Davis hit a layup near the buzzer. I think it was at Central.

Hmm, only one of these was in the Convo.

Kent State at Ohio circa 1962 is my all-time magical finish.  Ohio was behind by about 20 points in the second half.  Cut it to about 15 with about 5:00 to go.  Had it down to 6 with a minute or so left.  Then with 1 or 2 seconds on the clock Ohio had the ball out of bounds under its own basket down by only two.  Bill Whaley lofted the ball over the basket and Bunk Adams went up with a gignaitc leap right over the hoop and tipped the ball in.  It was more than amazing.  The crowd in Grover went absolutely hysterical.  Ohio won by 10 in OT.   And, remember, cricket, this was before the three point shot.  Miracle comebacks were much less frequent in tthos days.

DePaul in the early 80s wasn't a buzzer beater but it was thrilling finish.

Dave Jamerson's 3/4 court shot to beat Toledo at the buzzer circa 1988/9 would be up there.

also, circa 1991....Ohio was down 9 points with 1 minute left in game at Kent....they came back an won in regulation...think Rush Floyd hit the winning 3 pointer at the buzzer...it was televised and the announcers said "boy..those Kent students who left the game early will be surprised when they get back to their dorm room."

By far, this is my most memorable bobcat comeback victory.

Estis was a regular contributor from that time on.

I think I've mentioned this one before.  It's my favorite that I saw in person.  Vs. Toledo in '73.  Ohio was down 17 with 17 to go and eventually whittled down the margin to one in the last 30 seconds (this was also before threes).  The Cats had the ball and worked it to Walt Luckett at the top of the key.  He went up for a jumper and ALL FIVE Toledo players went for him.  He dished it to Dave Ball underneath for an easy layin with about 2 seconds left as the Convo went totally apesh*t.  Toledo's inbounds pass was tipped and rolled harmlessly down the floor as the horn sounded.

We will get by.
We will get by.
We will get by.
We will survive.

Been following for 25+ years, and this is definitely top 5 in the Convo. Freeman's buzzer-beater still #1, if only because it was vs. M#*@$.

Don't also forget about the infamous "Geno dribbles it out" game, also vs. M#*@$!

This was the game that made Hunter believe Estis could play. From that point on, Estis became a better player then Floyd and took his minutes over the next couple of seasons.

BG game this same year (I believe) was also a 10+ point comeback, and a sweet ending.

Seem to remember beating Toledo in I believe '82.  Know we stormed the court and Kirk was playing.

I'll never forget that one.  I remember the noise level in the Convo was the loudest I've ever heard it.  My ears actually hurt.  Over 11,000 in the house I believe.

Help me out with my memory, okay?  In '63 at Wisconsin, Ohio was down by something like 17 in the closing minutes and pulled out a 1-point win.  Does that sound about right?

Memo to 75% of the posters on this thread - He said in the Convo.

I remember lots of good games, but as far as the final play...Tommy & Stevie are #1 and #2 I do believe.
