Just one more win to guarantee the #2 seed and an automatic trip to Friday's semifinals. Bowling Green on the road might be tough, but Buffalo shouldn't be and Miami won't be...

Also, if WMU loses another game, we clinch a bye to the semifinals. If WMU wins one more game, they clinch no worse than the #3 seed, meaning that we need to win one more game and WMU needs to win one more game for us to avoid Kent in the semifinals, provided that Kent comes out on top of their four-team tie.

Yep.

The job is pretty clear. Get the #2 seed and make sure WMU is the opponent in the semi-final.

That is all.

I'm real interested to see how Kent does against Akron in their last regular season matchup this year.  Evans has been on a tear for KSU.  Kent played them well the first round but lost it in the 2nd half.  Kent is a dangerous team to play in a 1-and-done situation.

I'm confident we'll lock up the #2 seed, but can see us losing at BG or Buffalo.  Something tells me we drop one of those 2.

I have a hunch that a little voice in the heads of the MAC powers-that-be would like Akron, Ohio and WMU to be undefeated the rest of the regular season, then have Ohio or WMU beat Akron for the MAC championship.  It should make the MAC a two-bid conference in the NCAA tourney.  Akron's win last night bumped their RPI up to 35 (from about 48), so if they win out but lose in the championship game, they would be in a real good spot for an at-large bid to the NCAA.  Losing to Ohio (78 RPI) or WMU (110) in the championship game wouldn't hurt them that much.

I was thinking along the same lines last night. As much as I hated to lose that game last night, Akron winning actually may help the MAC more than if OU won.

As mentioned, Akron winning last night, puts them in a good spot(where WE should be IMO, with proper coaching, but that's for another thread) for an at large. If they make it to the MAC finals without blowing a gome along the way, I think as long as they lose a close game, they are in win or lose.

Ohio is in uncharted territory trying to finish 14-2 in the MAC so I can buy the skepticism. In Ohio's favor against BG is the team hasn't locked up the #2 and will be motivated. The MAC regular season title will be up for grabs at tip off. Akron drops a game at Buffalo that night and Ohio's game at Buffalo has MAC regular season implications.
