I've been thinking about this for some time and I hope this doesn't jinx us, but it seems appropriate to note how few off-court problems we've had with this group of seniors.  No disciplinary actions for off-court behavior.  No issues with grades.  God, this group of seniors has been a joy to watch and a pleasure to have represent Ohio.  Thank you, guys, for four glorious years.  Be happy, safe and well.

We will get by.
We will get by.
We will get by.
We will survive.

And smart...things/luck can change rapidly.  Learn from others' mistakes. Eight days ago, Akron was undefeated in the conference, beaten their toughest conference competitor twice, ranked top 25, looking at least at an at-large berth.  Now they have a ton to overcome in less than a week.

GOes with the Groce pphilosophy of recruiting involved parents with realistic goals and a frim handle on their kid. I truly believe Ms Cooper, if you talk to her, cares way more about DJ walking across that stage than she does if he ever scores another point.

Kinney was the anomaly here. Great kids , great parents....no aau coaches advising or handling. Quite a change from bert and Ernie or StevieFresh. I wish I had kept a copy of the thread titled "Culture change" when Groce walked in.

This group of seniors has been a great reflection on the school and will go forward and carry that name with great pride. They will continue to represent the U with great aplomb and integrity.

never argue with idiots, they bring you down to their level and beat you with experience.

Winter comes and asks how you spent your summer.....

The game loves and rewards those who love and reward the game

I've often thought about this during, and since last year's run.  I made remarks to my Dad when talking hoops that not only is this group full of good players, but they all seem to be good students, and good human beings.  I also recall remarking about how it's nice to not have some of the issues from prior years - ala Mr. Kinney, or Mr. Bassett.  It's a line that's tough to walk for coaches when choosing players to wear green & white. And for fans, how bad do we want to see on-court success at the cost of off court issues?  I for one would be fine with less success without troubles with the law for our players if I were forced to choose between the two.  It is a blessing that we're able to watch a group of players that are both good people and good players right now.  When you cheer for them tomorrow, and next weekend, don't forget that regardless of the results.

Cheers to you, DJ, Walt, Reggie, Ivo, and David!

Edit:  This isn't to leave out Nick K, Stevie, TJ, Ric, John, Nick G, Travis, and Kadeem.  I just simply giving a toast to the seniors.

I could not agree with this post more!!  Well said and we ARE lucky!  Didn't someone say last year that while at Nashville for the NCAA Tourney that a waitress at a restaurant said that the team was the best behaved group of young men she had ever seen in a basketball team?  It was something like that.  Such a comment from a waitress might seem corny and inconsequential but I can assure you it's not.  I'm telling you, that kind good conduct/interaction with the general public who happen to encounter OUr team (and who otherwise have never heard of Ohio University) means just as much as a basketball game does, so yes, big props and a thank you to our graduating seniors!

The same goes for football, ala Mr. LaVon Brazill, who has always been a great ambassador for Ohio University!

With any group of 18-22 year olds you are always just rolling the dice.  I know what I was like at that age and I considered myself a relatively good kid but as the saying goes "There by the grace of God go I."

We do have a fantastic group of guys. While I was waiting in line for the Akron game, Stevie walked right past us and a few guys wanted a picture and he was all happy and took five or six shots with them doing all sorts of things. I work at Nelson Dinning Hall and ever so often players come in and eat, and the week before Akron Treg, Willis, and Green came in and ate and were absolutely polite to about everyone and didn't try and act superior or cut in line. We just have a great group of guys.
