I want to give a shout out to the fans yesterday. I saw nothing but OU fans in and around the Q. I thought Bobcat Nation showed up big time.  By far the best fan base in the MAC

My pal from Lansing was overheard telling his friends back home that Ohio ain't no joke, their fans and students really, really represent. He was very impressed with the attendance.

ALL the bars around the Q were 90% Bobcat fans, and filled to occupancy

Ohio fans easily outnumbered Akron fans in The Q.

I've seen crazier things happen.

While in one of the Cleveland watering holes before the game, I met up with an old childhood friend who went to Akron. He and his Akron friends were amazed at the Ohio support. This is even more impressive when one realizes that we are one of the smallest schools in the MAC. I don't know the exact stats, but for the longest time Ohio and Miami were the two smallest schools (undergrad) in the conference. Sadly, we are not in the center of any media market and no MAC school has a smaller population within 30 miles of the campus than does Ohio University. Thank God our students and alums give us such strong support that few realize the obstacles Ohio University has to overcome in comparison to other MAC schools like Akron, Buffalo, Northern Illinois and Toledo who are literally within the centers of their media markets.

I thought to myself on Friday nite when they announced the 11,000 plus in attendance for the semis was something like the 8th largest in MAC history, really? This with Akron/Kent in the lead game of the semis. With Akron/Kent being mere minutes from the Q. With Akron/Kent have large alumni bases in the greater Cleveland/Akron/Canton Metro region. With Akron playing with a major chip on it's shoulder, with Kent being arguably the hottest team in the MAC, with Kent being the 2nd largest University in the State. Truth be told that 11,000 plus was "sizeably bouyed" by the OHIO contingent.

11,000 plus, huh? Hell we put 11,000 plus in the Convo on a Wednesday nite on a cold March winter night in the middle of Appalachia in a place Lou Holtz cackled was an 80 minute phone call from Columbus.

Be proud of yourselves Bobcat Nation. That was an impressive, impressive turnout!. S*** I think there may have been 11,000 OHIO strong in the Barley House on Saturday!
