Am I the only one here who would like to see Stevie win the starting PG spot next season? I know JC has brought in a transfer who is getting some good pub but in my personal opinion I think Stevie has made huge strides this season and will be even better as a junior next season. I guess I'm bias to those who come in as bobcats as freshmen and enjoy watching them develop and get their shot to lead our team.

I love Stevie Taylor's hustle, energy, and enthusiasm.  Personally, I don't care if he "starts" or not.  I do feel like he deserves more minutes, and I think the team benefits from him playing more next year.  That said, you can't discount the resume that Willis brings here.  He played WELL in the Big 12 as a starter, and is a proven scorer and long range threat.  I've said it a number of times this week - I like what I see for next year's potential because we'll have real size, while also having some pretty good guards/wings.  We'll have what I percieve to be the ability to have multiple looks depending on situation and opponent.  I think Taylor and Willis could very well be a HUGE part of that by being on the floor together at times.

I feel confident that whomever starts at PG will be solid. After seeing Steive improve this year, it Willis beats him out, it just means that we have 2 guys that we can trust at the position, which is never a bad thing.

I agree with this as well.  However, I am not sure that Willis has proven to be much more of a scorer than Stevie.  Willis averaged 8 ppg last year as a soph in 30 mpg.  Stevie averaged 3 ppg this year in 10 mpg.  Willis shot 33% from 3 while Stevie shot 37.5% from 3.

I think the bigger factor will be which player shows a better control and ability to set up the offense.

I do not want Stevie to start next year because he is a likable kid and is somehow owed it. The only way Stevie, or any player, should start is if they have proven to be the best option for the team to win games.

Well, how much does he need to prove with the game winner against Kent and bringing the team back to beat Miami?  Plus, he did a great job against W Mich at Cleveland.  He has made tremendous strides to become a starter.  I agree, he needs to start.  I don't know much about this "Bean" kid but, I've seen Stevie and he has come a good way since he stepped onto the floor last year.  I think Stevie should start due to the fact that he has started to control his play.  When Stevie was at the one and DJ at the two during the tournament, the Bobcats were hard to beat.

Bingo!  It seemed to me that every time we went with that lineup, we won.  I would have liked to have seen it in the Akron game and the Denver game.  Chances are we wouldn't be having the conversations on here that we are right now.

So even if Bean Willis is much better than Stevie the coaches should start Stevie because he hit a clutch 3 and played well against a 9-22 Miami and is really likable and is trying really hard and is improving? No thanks, I want the best player to start. If we find out Jon Smith is a better PG than both then I would want him to start. It's not personal.

After 2 years, I still think Stevie is a mystery. To me, he never looked entirely comfortable running the show. Granted it's a small sample size. He had a ton of hype coming in and got to play behind the best point guard in OHIO history for 2 years. To me, he seemed to be a bit out of control too many times.

He really is going to have to take some giant steps next year to play 20-25 minutes on a consistent basis.
