Sounds like Forsythe for sure (no big loss) and possibly Walsh (more of a loss). Ibitayo also out (no loss at all).

Ibitayo and Forsythe played a combined two minutes in the MAC title game. Walsh is a bit of a loss if he can't go, but the Zips have plenty of depth at his position.

And in the history of its basketball program, Akron still hasn't won an NCAA Tourney game or defeated a TOP 25 team.

It looks like the MAC is back in the NCAA Tourney.

New rule: Only Ohio and Kent State are allowed to represent the MAC in the tournament. Exceptions: Central when they have a caveman at center or if a Derek Zoolander lookalike is playing the 2-guard for Miami.

What about EMU if they find another 5'5 lightening bug?

Motion seconded.

Or if Ball State ever has a 400-pound coach who is hilarious and lives in a hotel ever again.

Not true.  In the 60's Akron was a D II national power.

The Zips participated in the NCAA Division II tournament on seven different occasions, making the Division II Final Four three times (1964, 1966, and 1972) and reaching the championship game in 1964 and 1972.[2] Coach Laterza’s winning percentage at UA of .751 (178-59 from 1960-68) remains best in the history of the program.

Walsh actually looked like one of the few guys giving any effort out there.  The flu isn't the reason they were destroyed.  First of all VCU is really good and was a matchup nightmare for the Zips, especially with Abreu out.  Then the Zips played right into their hands by not slowing it down when they did manage to beat the press.  You completely negate any advantage you have with Marshall and Treadwell by not having them anywhere near the basket when you throw up the first available shot.

That's like saying the Cleveland Browns were in the Super Bowl before there was a Super Bowl.

Actually it's worse than that. It's like saying that Joe Hauser held the record for most home runs because he hit 69 at AAA.

Division II doesn't count.  I have a very close family friend that currently plays for the D-2 #1 team, West Liberty.  I am rooting for him to win it all, but it's just not the same thing as D1.  I think the top-10 D-III team from Marietta would confirm there is a major difference.

West Liberty (known in the Valley back in the day as the "Highschool on the Hill) has a high glaze offense that never, ever worries about shot clock violations.  They jack it up all the time, every time.  Fun team to watch.

It may not be what he meant but he said "NCCA tourney" game.  Like my boy Dragon, I was commenting based on a technicality.

I think you know which tourney I was talking about.

If we are dealing in silly technicalities.....he said " NCAA "

Coincidentally over the last week or so, when I visit this website, one of the ads frequently that pops up to the right is for West Liberty University.
