Interview with Leon Williams on Puerto Rican TV

I receive a Puerto Rican TV station here in St. Pete, & they occasionally show games from the Baloncesto Superior Nacional. Leon Williams just started playing in that league after finishing the Korean season, & is playing for a team called the Cangrejeros de Santurce. He had a big game tonight, going for 22 & 9 and leading his team to a win over the Pirates, so he earned the post-game interview. Here is that interview:

Leon Williams is often overlooked when reviewing the history of our program, but he remains without a doubt one of my all-time favorite Bobcats. No nonsense, brought it every night, blue collar guy that knew his role on the team and fulfilled it everytime I watched. Few OHIO teams wouldn't be better with a Leon Williams type on their roster. Great to see he's still at it.

Love the logos ads on the uniform. Is the U.S. is the last holdout?

Sarcasm? I personally hate logos on uniforms. I understand why they're there, but it looks tacky to me. But I digress...

The top 4 revenue generating leagues in the US (MLB, NBA, NHL, and NFL) makes so much money that I don't think that fan outlash would be worth the money generated at the end of the day.

Leon "Big" Williams: Greats highlights and funny commentary.

Is there any way to keep track of Bobcats playing in Europe? I live in Budapest and would definitely go see a former player if they were in driving distance. I watch ABA league in Europe. There are a few MAC players do well. Romeo Travis (Akron) is best player for ZADAR (Croatia), though not a good team. Mike Scott from Kent State is a role player for Red Star Belgrade (Serbia) which is a very good team with a great history and fans.

AIG paid Manchester United 100 million dollars to put the AIG logo on the front of their uniforms. It's inevitable that some owner will take that plunge.

It's not only fan outlash but also conflicts with players' individual endorsement contracts. If a player has an exclusive agreement with, say, Ford, he can't wear Chevy logos. And with so many players on each team having individual endorsement contracts, it wouldn't be logistically or economically feasible for the team to buy out all the individual contracts. Besides, who wants to look like Junior:

I agree, and I blame the shoddy PG play that we had his final 3 years in the program. Imagine how different things might have been if DJ was dishing him the ball as he sealed his man in the post.

Agreed, DJ would've taken Leon to another level. As I recall, we severely underutilized Leon's ability by not getting him enough touches and running the offense through the post while having a player like him on the roster.

I think you can say that about anyone. DJ is the best point guard to ever play here. I know this is blasphemy from someone who was on campus from 1992-1997 but he may be the best ever, period.

I'm guessing Nike will do everything in its power to keep advertising off uniforms. Their logo is small, unobtrusive and clean. It's not overbearing and that subtlety actually makes it more effective. It's akin to Apple's advertising and devices. Put another ad on a uniform and the swoosh loses prominence. The uniform suddenly looks tacky.

Idea: ads could be superimposed digitally onto uniforms during close-ups of players at the free throw line. The viewer sees the ad, while the uniform maintains its clean look to people in the arena or stadium. Ads can be changed multiple times. We already do it with football fields.

I'd like to think MLB would never allow logos on unis, but I guess it's the "natural" progression...
