I meant to post this a while back. Treg Setty posted this on his Twitter a few months ago, I cant remember the exact date, but it was before the season started.

"I'm a Bobcat through and through but Buckeye blood runs through my veins....Love watching the Buckeye's."

I'm wasn't that happy about it then and I really don't like it now. How do you feel about it?

I've been very frustrated with the way Setty has played but I'll defend him here. I would say he was one of four players who you could tell really wanted to win that game last night. The other three being Nick, Stevie and N'dour.

When we went on our run late in the game Setty was really into it. He was pumping up the Ohio fans and you could tell he wanted to win. Even after he fouled out he was arguing with the ref and almost got a technical. Then he walked over to the bench he pulled I believe John Smith to the side who was replacing him and he really got into his face and got him fired up.

Setty's flare is probably the only thing I like about him right now. He has played terribly but his pure emotion has been fun to watch.

I don't have a problem with Setty's quote.

And I disagree that he's played badly so far.  I think he's been a contributor.  That's why JC is bringing him in as the sixth or seventh man.

Yes it is. I dont like someone who represents our university openly admitting they love a school in which we compete against in all areas. Education, Athletics, Brand, ect.

A kid who was named for an OSU player, who grew up in Peebles and no doubt received a steady diet of Buckeyes everything growing up, admits to liking OSU even though he is pouring his blood, sweat, and tears into OU.  How dare he.

Do you think Nick Kellogg, whose father was a Buckeye great, growing up in Columbus, is any different?

I'm more disappointed that he apparently cannot use apostrophes correctly.

I think he has contributed in a negative way. He doesn't box out and picks up his dribble at the top of the key. I have faith he will improve and that we haven't seen him playing at his best but if this is his best then I'm not impressed. He needs to play better if he wants to keep getting minutes. I would rather play Antonio Campbell over Setty based on what I've seen. But I have faith in JC and he has been playing against two very good teams so I'll give him the benefit of the doubt.

This is why this board is the best and most humorous board out there!!  Funniest thing I've read all day!

P.S.  Having been born in Ohio I guess technically Buckeye blood runs through me too.  I think I'll be OK.

There was a thread (I am thinking in the past year) on either this board or the football board that started as a "how did you become a Bobcat fan?" thread, but turned into a "how I stopped being a Buckeye fan" after 90% of the posts were, "I grew up in Ohio and all I was ever offered for fandom was osu, and then I got to Athens and _____________________________"

Seems Mr. Setty is saying basically the same thing.

The quote doesn't bother me, the kid was named after a Buckeye after all.

I don't understand the criticism of Setty on the court either, I think he's brought a good energy to the team and played well so far.

in 23 minutes he's 2-2 from the floor and 2-4 from the line for 6pts, 4rebs, 1ast 1TO, 0 fouls. That's 10.4pts and 7.0rebs per 40 minutes. Not a bad start. I think with a little work he could be the player we thought Ivo would be.

The player offf the bench I'm more concerned about is Wilkins. In 25 minutes his only stats are 1 reb and 1 ast.

MY STATE. MY TEAM.

No problem with his quotes and no problems with his game. I'm actually intrigued and happy with what I think he can become.  I think too many people are making definitive judgements based on two games.

That bothers me too. All Bobcats should know not to pluralize words with apostrophies. Let's aim higher, people.

Some of you continue to amaze! The kid is high energy, and you cannot question his heart or effort. To dislike him over the fact he grew up a Buckeye fan is laughable.

Don't hate him, but I think we all hope after a little more time in Athens he would say:

"I'm a Bobcat through and through GREEN  blood runs through my veins....but I still love/enjoy watching the Buckeyes."

He can love watching the Buckeyes - but his blood should be green.

Too many thought police on this board...does the kid give great effort? I was at the Schott and saw first hand that he did.  That's all that matters to me...

Kid can feel and say whatever he wants to, but sometimes it's just better to keep quiet to not alienate your own fanbase. I mean he has to know that he's in the spotlight and that kind of statement is going to rub some people the wrong way, so what's the point. Same kind of stuff Lebron pulled wearing Yankees cap to an Indians game. Not smart and you're just going to instigate some bad feelings, But whatever, we got bigger issues to deal with than this.

I like what I have seen so far. Freshman mistakes to be sure but he is more aggressive than the guy who just left and does not make as many defensive gaffes that others had to pay for. Game is a lttle fast right now but in no way is Campbell a better alternative. SOme one needs to cut the yoke to that plow 33 is dragging up the court.

Treg is going to be good. Upside is great, good motor, room to improve decisions, hungry around the rim and very vocal on D. he'll be fine. The eyeball test says so.

That's a good point.  All Ohioans are technically Buckeyes.  That has nothing to do with the junior institution in Cowtown.  We were called Buckeyes long before A&M was a gleam in the eye of the General Assembly.
