I had a real nice moment running into Clark Kellogg and his wife at the game in Columbus..  Clark was all decked out in Bobcat gear as was I.  Saw him in the concourse and said, "let's go get 'em!."  and he promptly responded with "yes sir!"

I thought it was awesome seeing him dressed in Ohio green!  I think it's hilarious (not to mention fantastic that he's supporting his son) that one of the most successful and prominent Ohio State stars ever was sitting in Ohio State's arena sporting Ohio's colors!!!!  That is AWESOME!

Chip, you may know Mr. High School Sports in Central Ohio, Larry Larson. He gave me and a friend front row, center court seat tickets for the 1979 big school state championship game between Clark Kellogg's Cleveland St. Joseph v. Columbus East and Granville (Grandpa) Waiters.

Early in the game Grandpa swatted a layup by Clark and running down the court, right in front of me, he waived his index finger at Clark (ala  Mutumbo) and told him "don't come in here no boy, boy, don't come in here no more."

I reminded Clark of this a couple of years ago in the Convo during halftime of a Bobcat game. Of course, I didn't have to remind him that he went on to score a state record 55 points against Grandpa and East.

I thought he might wear something O$U with his Ohio garb, but he was there to support his son and not his alma mater.  Love it.

I didn't say I was surprised.  I just thought the juxtaposition of one of OSU's most prominent and famous athletes wearing OUr colors in Value City Arena was fantastic and noteworthy.  In fact, it's avatar-worthy!

This is interesting. Not quite on the same level-- but the recent documentary about Archie Manning showed that he would wear little (if any) University of Tennessee attire, especially when they played Ole Miss, while Peyton was at Tenn.

So, yes it is somewhat of a surprise to see Clark in an Ohio shirt. IMHO

You don't have to outrun the bear...just the other guy.

Did i say, hey you, "Mark Lembright'85"? Did I throw your post in quotes?

Personally I'd be more surprised and disappointed in a parent was not supporting their child. And in a few years you will be watching Gary Tret sitting in the stands watching Gary Trent Jr, and I'm pretty sure he will be decked out in that schools colors.

I think the major difference here (Archie vs. Clark) is, Ohio isn't in the same conference as Ohio State. So there's no underlying "tension" if you will, for lack of a better word. Then there's that matter of how insane the south takes it's SEC football.

Now if Nick played for Michigan, and Clark had on Wolverines gear, then it would be a HUGE deal IMO lol. But speaking as a father, you saw a man who was proud to show support for his boy.

Clark is a great guy and a personal friend. His first collegiate game was against us at St John in 1979. I think we were either up one or down one at the half, then they blew us out in the second half. In some polls, that OSU team was ranked number 1 in the pre-season, much of the hype having to do with Clark coming on board. That was one of the few games that we played on TV in those days and my cousin taped the game on CH 43 in Cleveland. On the 25th anniversary of that game, I had the tape made into DVDs and sent one to all the guys, including Clark. That's the only game I have recorded and it's a great memory.
