So which game do you watch...Basketball or Football tonight? I don't think this opportunity has ever happened before.
I guess you need to have 2 TV's to catch ALL THE ACTION.

GO BOBCATS

If it's one or the other...clearly Basketball.  Much bigger game.

Really? It's hard to argue O$U is the bigger game. It's only "big" because it's OSU. If we're playing Oklahoma or something no one cares.

The football game, on the other hand, will perhaps determine our bowl fate. My definition of "bigger" is "which has more on the line?". The answer has to be football - that's where I'll be!

This ^ Also if we win out AND Buffalo loses to both BG and Toledo, there is a very real chance we play in Detroit. However, there are a lot of "ifs" in this equation.

I think I will be watching both!

Those are two very tough games for Buffalo and I think they lose Tuesday night @ Toledo. All we can do is win and let the rest fall in to place.

The way I see it beating OSU in hoops would be a bigger win than beating BG in football.

That said, I will be watching both. The last Bobcats football game was on TV but I chose to watch it on my computer. These days, you can pretty much find any sporting event online. Not sure what the exact setup will be, but I will have it setup to somehow watch both games using a couple different devices. If you really needed to, I really don't think it'd be too hard to get both games on 1 computer.

I've seen crazier things happen.

if we win out and Buffalo loses to both Toledo and Bowling Green UB still goes to Detroit before we do. They have to lose to Miami too.

As for watching the games I'll have the bball game on the TV and and the football game on the laptop.

What the prediction for the game- is this like Louisville in '11 or more like Kansas in '10 and Memphis in '12?

If we win out and Buffalo loses to both Toledo and Bowling Green, we end up in a tie.  According to what Russ and Rob said at the end of the post game recap yesterday (here) - it looks like we could come out ahead in the tie breaker scenarios.

This game against OSU is far and away more important than the football game Tuesday night.

We're not just talking about an opponent ranked in the Top 15, we're talking about an in-state opponent that openly uses OUr name as their own (chants, shirts, scripts, etc.).

In this age social media, a win against Ohio State would catapult student body enthusiasm to new heights. A few more townies and high school kids around the state will buy in as well. It might also help to reel back in more than a few alumni.

There's no doubt in my mind this is a rivalry. Whether or not you believe OHIO/ OSU is a rivalry, is a one sided rivalry, or no rivalry at all, upsets are what get people upset. Upsets are what make rivalries.

A win on Tuesday would make us 2-0 against OSU in the last twenty years (both on the road). They would hardly have room to talk about head to head match-ups in the modern era.

And bigger picture:

Think of how stupid those OH - IO chants sound when the only real OHIO on the court is wearing Green and White. Even the most simple mind (generic fan A) can start to piece together the puzzle through repetition.

Playing this game would not have been on my Top 50 things to do as an AD. Bad move.

Much like their football team, these chumps can't find their way to the Columbus Airport much less Route 33. We beat them in Columbus the last time we played. This game should be in The Convo or not at all.

Where were they the last decade when we had teams that were in a better spot than this team is TODAY?

I may actually have to watch this damn game because I know watching TT hand the ball up to the middle to Beau, BG run the ball down our throats and our punt team get owned again is not really a better option.

Thankfully I have a business event that is mandatory that night so I will not have to be tortured twice in one evening.

Yep..really...Football has little on the line.  They've dug themselves a hole they won't get out of.  They will still go to a bowl even if they lose to BG and take care of Kent/UMass at home.  Not sure what Oklahoma state has to do with the equation.... but any chance to get a top 25 win is greater game than a MAC game that has little impact in MAC championship.  If football was playing a top 25 team and basketball playing BGSU in meaningless game..I'd go with football.  I was offered free tickets to BGSU game and it's about the same drive for me to BG as to OSU and I'm going to basketball game.

I don't know if anyone is certain about the tie-breaker scenario for football if there were to be a three-way 6-2 tie. As was mentioned, Rob and Russ seemed to think Ohio would win the tiebreaker that would occur if Ohio beats BG and Buffalo loses to Toledo and BG. The second tiebreaker are after head-to-head (which would be 1-1 for all three teams) is record against teams ranked in division. Buffalo doesn't play Akron this year. It seems kind of unfair but Buffalo will end up with one less win vs. the division as a result, but this may eliminate them from the tiebreaker process and then Ohio would win against BG based on head-to-head. I'm not sure if this is the correct interpretation of the rule, but it seems to be what Rob and Russ were suggesting. If Buffalo essentially is not penalized for having one less division game, then the third tiebreaker is crossover opponent winning percentage, which as of now, BG would have the edge, but that could change based on the rest of the results.

Either way, the football game does have effect on the postseason picture in some way. Ohio probably will go to a bowl either way, but a loss to BG could leave them out in the end; it's hard to say right now. I still think the football game has a lot of meaning.

I know the basketball game means a lot to everyone just because it is Ohio State, but in reality, it's one non-conference game very early in the season and probably won't affect anything down the road as far as postseason.

For me personally, the OSU game is bigger/more important. If OU goes up to Cbus and beats the Bucks then I would have sooooo much ammo against my O$U friends. And I want anything and everything I can get to rub their faces in....sorry that sounds a little selfish lol

Both are big games. I want the football seniors to go out STRONG this year. Win out.

I'll certainly be watching both at once.

If we want our athletic program to be relevant nationally the basketball game is more important.  Not only will it make sportscenter but it will be a signature win for Christian and staff.  It will help establish the program.  Beating $tate helps a recruit like Owens feel good about his decision.  It is very true that in scope of this season it probably means little but for the Ohio brand it is one of the biggest games in recent memory.  This is our chance to give the finger to state, their administration, and their arrogant fans.  When we win, we will have recently beaten the two institutions that disrespects our name the most in Ann Arbor and $tate.  If we want the Ohio brand to be taken seriously, this is a game we need to win.
I know the BG game is important for this season's success.  I know the football team should want revenge against BG.  You know what we will play BG next year in football and most likely it will have some MAC East  title implications.  We have won bowls the last 2 years.  We play $tate every 20 years in basketball. Crack the nuts and beat $tate!

Prior to the Buffalo game, someone asked me if I had to choose between a basketball win at OSU or a football win at BGSU, which would it be. I said to ask me again after the Buffalo game. I'm all in for basketball. Correct me if I'm wrong, but we need to win out and Buffalo to lose out to still have a chance at the MAC East. Buffalo still goes to play Miami, so that lose out thing ain't happening.

Well, during 4 years of the last decade, John Groce and Matta had an agreement that they would not play each other.

I'm guessing the line will open around OSU -13.  Bad matchup for our Bobcats.  4 of OSUs 5 starters are back, and the one new guy to the starting lineup is likely headed to the NBA after the season.

I'd feed NDour early and often, and hope his athleticism can get Amir Williams into foul trouble.  The one thing the Bucks do not have is frontcourt depth.  Amir is the only true 5 on their team.  After that, it's Trey McDonald, a sophomore that has not seen extensive playing time, and last year's Ohio Mr. Basketball, Marc Loving, a freshman who is a more natural 4.  That's the matchup to exploit.

I thought Stevie looked great on Saturday.  He's gonna need to do it again.  OSU may have the best defensvie backcourt in the country.

Oz - is there any buzz in the Columbus area about this game at all? I went on Bucknuts earlier today and no one is talking about it. It's almost like the game is an afterthought. I guess that's a given during football season, but still...
