Given some discussions regarding scheduling recently, this seemed like a fairly pertinent article.  Xavier has said they will no longer travel to play at Millett.

That's a big loss for Miami's program because one they prided themselves on was playing strong schedules and great rivalries. They were one of the best basketball programs in the MAC along with Ohio and Ball State. In that article it talks how Xavier is no longer playing Dayton either. Dayton is also off Miami's schedule. The Miami Valley 5 or whatever they had going on in Oxford is dead. Ohio with where its program is right now should consider getting on the phone with Dayton and starting a series with the Flyers. Call it the battle of the over sized arenas. It would be a great series for fans on both sides. For Dayton fans its not the same as making a trip to Athens 20 years ago when there wasn't a sit down restaurant in Athens. The game could be on the second Saturday of December and it would be a sell out.

I think the opening paragraph says it all. It just isn't worth it.

I've seen crazier things happen.

Really surprised that X isn't playing Dayton in the non-conference schedule. I have to think that will eventually happen in the future. It's not like the A-10 is automatically a horrible basketball conference now that X is out of it. It will still be a good game for their RPI. Plus, it's not like Dayton beats X in Cincinnati anyways, even Jimmy Carter knows that.

I imagine Miami will keep going to Cintas to play just for the sake of guaranteed money and light travel.

Miami is trying to start some new rivalries...that is why they played the Wilmington Quakers...that didn't work out very well.

Over sized arena's?  UD sells over 12,000 per game, and is in the top 30-35 in attendance annually.  We have the over sized arena if anyone does.

I think we all agree a series with UD would be a good one.  I'd have to believe that it has been attempted by our AD at some point.

Miami has made their own bed in this one.  They have fallen so far behind in funding that they can no longer be competitive on a consistent basis.  With teams like Dayton and Xavier there is too much RPI risk involved playing a team that can only hurt them.
