did you move the thread in which Monroe alerted us about the V-ball MACC game?  I, for one, would have forgotten about it, if Monroe hadn't posted his reminder in the basketball forum. I don't visit the V-ball forum as much as I should.  I thought that that was the reason that Monroe posted it here, so that some of us would be reminded of the important match that was taking place.  Again, thank you Monroe!

Ok, good point, but now that we are a day after the volleyball game, it no longer needs to be on the basketball board to remind us to watch the volleyball game.

But, Jeff......what about those on the board who live in the past?

like those old grunts at the Athens' bars who tell war stories to students to pass on the memories to the next generation?  [I just read over that and it didn't exactly sound like an insult; I guess I'm losing my touch.]

Now, before you start in on your oil-tender swabby stuff, I was only on an oil tender for about one month, and it never left the harbor.  Before that I was on two man-of-wars -- the USS Norfolk (DL-1) and the USS Newport News (CA-148).  The latter being the world's largest all-gun cruiser at the time.  On the Norfolk, we did ASW exercises with virtually all the South American navies and successfully prevented the Viet Cong submarine attack on South America!  Now, tell me I didn't contribute to hemispheric defense of the Americas and our war effort!

Those oil fumes must have had an effect.  Why would you think you (much older than me) would be the referent of those who live in the past, old timer?  It was an undirected thought.
Besides, does this particular thread sound like the musings of past GWC board members??

1)  Volleyball is our most successful sport and it's a terrific game.  The ladies may have their best team ever this year and they are young.  And NCAA's await.  People who are not following the ladies--on 'net/video and/or in person are only hurting themselves.  So, one thread as a remind hardly seems offensive.

2)  The thread said 'two things that you need to know NOW' with the second of them being that The Big O apparently averaged a triple double for his first 4-5 years in the league.  That seems hoop related to me.

Trivia note - my step-mother's dad gave Oscar Robertson his nickname in college when he was broadcasting UC games.

If I were Jeff, I would've immediately moved this thread to volleyball just out of spite.

But I didn't because the Mullahs are guided by nothing but a generous benevolence, objective analysis and the best interests of all participants.  No personal agendas or spite for US...

Well, put that post in the category of a "pre-emptive strike."  One never knows what lurks in the hearts of old grunts!  And, yes, there was a certain critical mass of old GWC board members in this thread, which was kind of frightening itself . . .
