I'm grateful for the webcasts from the Convo, but I wish somebody would fix the aspect ratio of the picture (as somebody eventually did last year if I remember correctly).  Everyone on the screen looks shorter and fatter than they should, and the basketball looks squashed.  It's hard enough on my eyes enough to experience this phenomenon on TV's in bars and restaurants when I'm not paying much attention to what's on.

Does anybody else have a problem with it buffering?  Happened a dozen or more times tonight.  Drives me nuts when the ball stops in midair halfway to the hoop.

It buffered a lot for me, too.  I just figured it was my slow wireless connection, but maybe it wasn't.

I can't believe in this day and age on a college campus you can't get a decent video.

I'm not certain if the blame lays on campus or with Stretch's distribution. I know the campus network allows for QoS that should make it trivial to ensure adequate bandwidth coming out of the Convo (assuming they're working with IT - if they're not, they need to be).

Some days the games broadcast perfectly for me.  Tonight not so much.  I think the giant system moving through had an effect.

I ran the webcast from my iPad to Apple TV and had no problems.

Still waiting for the opportunity to pay for a quality  feed. Take my money, Ohio.

Russ called out the cameraman tonight on the air and said "If you don't like the camera work, that's who to blame..."

I didn't catch the cameraman's name.  Sounded like a mini-shout out to BA...

we've had this conversation before but its one that is certainly worth having again. The issues I have with the video feed include-

1. Location. why is the camera down and to the left? I know we have a place to put a camera up and in the middle of the court because that's where the camera is for all of the post game highlights. Certainly we could fit another camera up there, right? This leads into the issue with aspect ratio but its so frustrating to have the camera zoom in to the far end and then a fast break happens and you miss all of the action. Not to mention when the camera operator falls asleep and forgets to pan. Half the time I cant see the play develop because we're zoomed in on the ball handler.
2, Audio. My right ear is so jealous of my left ear. Please figure out how to broadcast in stereo.
3. Scoreboard/graphics. We have a slight upgrade this year but its still too bloated and too Windows 95ish. And there's got to be a way to add the clock, ESPN does it when they come in.

I'm very grateful of the free video broadcast and I appreciate the work the operators do to bring Bobcat basketball into my living room.  I would like to see the feed continue to be free but I am more than willing to donate to pay for the necessary upgrades. Just tell me how much and who to make the check out to.

Adding the time would be pricier than you'd expect, because it'd either require a true video mixer or a graphics machine that could take the data input. It'd be awesome, though.

Maybe BA could sponsor a large digital clock to be placed above the door to the Roher Room

As I recall it was the sideline reporter from the football broadcasts.  He was doing it because Thanksgiving break had already begun.

It was great to have the camera at center court.

I really hope the people running the webcast are business majors or education majors or something other than TV majors. But somewhere along the line, there has to be an adult who can immediately identify things aren't set up correctly and fix it.

Otherwise the university is paying an incompetent person to not do their job at a university that produces terrific TV people (and, Gridiron Glory etc, terrific TV productions).

Pay or no pay I am thrilled to have the feed available. I keep thinking someone is going to shut it down because it violates some NCAA or MAC contract  on showing live games. I have never had an unwatchable feed although sometimes it is better than others.
As a 72' grad I am used to distant broadcasts on out of town stations trying to use a coat hanger as a antenna, going to bars that won't put our game on the bar TV, "phantom listings"  showing that a game will be shown only to find that our game has been pre-empted by an informercial. I could go on.
For me the fact that the games are available is a miracle.

I would be willing to pay for a quality stream in a heartbeat but I also know a fair amount of people who use the stream who just wouldn't watch if there was a fee.

I think a lot of those people watch for a year then get hooked to the point they'd be willing to pay as well.

I've seen crazier things happen.

Oh for the days of waiting for the ticker on Headline News to see how the 'Cats were doing. For a couple minutes we'd enjoy the dulcet tones of Jerome Jurenovich as they filled the room...

Though sometimes the aspect ratio of the ticker would be off a bit...

I am happy the MAC has taken the approach to be able to look in on all the games. THey should continue to encourage this as an alternative to espn3 and other outlets.

I posted a link on the Butler board for the Balls game. They were flabbergasted that the MAC links were of good quality and FREE> the Horizon long ago went to a pay site and Horizon TV was not that good for a long time. I have not looked in lately on Horizon TV but suspect that it has not been upgraded all that well. Kudos to the MAC for making things so accessible thus far.
