Watching it live, I thought Cunningham might not have heard the whistle and was trying to foul.  Certainly didn't look as bad to me on the replay... UNCA coach and announcers remarked on that in the post game. Very uncharacteristic for him as far as shots. Not so sure about the other part. It was kind of funny to watch him try to do more than he was physically capable of. You could tell UNCA's players really wanted to win his game. I felt like our guys were not 100% into the game early, but did a nice job responding in the 2nd half. They just laughed at Cunningham when things were getting chippy. The Big South broadcast had a replay from under the bucket with Stevie basically looking into the camera and yelling.  That would be the shot, if you could get it. The push looked worse than it was.  The camera angle showed Stevie's right shoulder moving a lot, and the ref who called it had the same angle.  But I think it was called because it was well after the whistle; you get the same thing in football. Last year at MAC tourney I talked to numerous fans from other schools. Usually centered around DJ and Reg but several would say same thing about Stevie "man I hate that guy..but I would take him on my team anyday. Kid could definitely play yet, our staff at the time felt his strengths were not a fit for their program. While he didn't get into any criticism of either player, I was convinced he was going after a different caliber of recruit. Remember, Reggie Keely and Ivo Baltic were Freshmen and both showed a lot of promise. They were both a lot more athletic than Cunningham, even if they were an inch or two shorter. Fieler was a bit of an unknown and grew 6" his Senior year of high school. After Ivo's sophomore year, that looked like a great decision to pass on him. Maybe in hindsight, Fieler would have been a nice signee. He's had a good run at FGCU and is a high quality individual. With what I've seen from Cunningham, Groce was 100% correct to pass on him. I think Cunningham also knows UNCA is as big time as he is qualified for.
