After tonight's game vs. CMU, it appears Ohio may have the toughest schedule in the MAC. I don't have time to confirm this, but we literally do not have ANY "easy" games. (JSF, I hear you smirking from Houston).

MAC tournament is set up similarly as last year re: byes for seeds. I think the most realistic goal for Ohio is to get one of the top four seeds. Last year, we were on track to get one of the top two seeds all season long. Not so this year.

The fact that we have the toughest remaining schedule in the MAC makes that BGSU home loss that much more hard to accept.

If Ohio finishes with the one or two seed, it advances to Friday's semifinal round. If Ohio gets either the third or fourth seed, it advances past the Monday home site games and plays in the Thursday quarterfinals.

Seeds five and below all play on Monday night at campus sites. IMO, this is what we are playing to avoid.

But with the very tough schedule, Ohio could play well and still end up with the fifth or sixth seed.

As alwsys, this will be interesting and fun. Hopefully, we will play well, win most of our games, end up winning 12 or 13 regular season games, and earn one of the top four seeds. It won't be easy, but it's doable.

I agree with everything you are saying here. I think our schedule is clearly much tougher in the 2nd half of MAC play than the 1st half. It is pretty obvious we have one of the toughest MAC schedules due to the MAC West crossovers we got doubled with (EMU and Toledo) while we only see the MAC West bottom-feeders (NIU, CMU and Ball) 1 time. We also get WMU on the road instead of at home, although we don't seem to be struggling too much on the road so far in MAC play... (KNOCK ON WOOD)

Dropping that BG game killed which made our fighting back to steal the EMU game all the more important. That was a huge win.

I am hopeful we continue to see improvement as the players and staff adjust to their new roles with Ricardo out. Considering that we lost a starter and our best perimeter defender immediately before the start of MAC play, two 1 possession loses don't seem like the end of the world.

I've seen crazier things happen.

We actually get Western twice, not Eastern.  Your point remains the same though...in that we get 2 of the top 3 West teams twice and the other we get only on the road.

The BG loss will haunt me all season long.  I have a really hard time letting go of terrible losses and do the "if only we didn't..." game all season long.

the toughest stretch will be 2/12 - 2/22 when we play @Toledo, @ Buffalo, WMU, @Akron. That's a rough 10 days.

I heard EMU's coach was openly complaining about the "unfair" scheduling that gave his team Akron and Ohio at home in the same week. Boo hoo.

News Flash...the scheduling is stupid.  Either play divisional ball or get rid of them.  Another example of stupid conference management.  I don't understand why anybody puts up with this stupidity.

That having been said, if we are the cream of the MAC we will win a lot of those games and be one of the Top 2 seeds!

Good catch, that is correct.

If there is a good thing about this, it is the role playing the tougher schedule has on our RPI...

This is the MAC currently...
Toledo 34
EMU 60
Ohio 80
Akron 87
Buffalo 124
Miami 141
WMU 153
BG 171
Kent 184
NIU 219
CMU 286
Ball 301

Like normal, the MAC East is overall a pretty solid RPI Conference... The MAC West has 3 teams notably worse... Those are 3 teams we only play them once. We play the Top 3 teams from the West 5 times... Tougher, but a major help to our RPI.

It is nice for MAC play to potentially be boosting our RPI...

anyone , anytime, anywhere.....

That is the mantra Indiana HS kids were raised with till we voted to dumb down the tourney and cave to the principals who wanted more trophies.....Yay! instead of a State Champ we now have 4 class champs...

In that spirit though I agree. If you want to build a program that is tough enough to compete and you want to be the dominant leader .....you take the hard road and get the advantage of playing the best to be the best....in this case put your big boy pants on, go play the games and win them. Come tourney time you are ready to not only win but to advance. Its a mindset that promotes excellence.

May be old school but taking care of business and winning out rather than just being competitive should be the goal. NO rationalization, NO Excuses.

never argue with idiots, they bring you down to their level and beat you with experience.

Winter comes and asks how you spent your summer.....

The game loves and rewards those who love and reward the game

Are you suggesting we direct complaints to Jeremy Guy, just like most of us did 2 years ago after the BracketBuster situation?

If we play better against better competition, then we should be in good shape for the rest of the season.

That's my point.  We don't have any "poor competition" the rest of the season.

Don't take that sort of rationale over to the football board. You may get your head bitten off.

We also aren't going to win out in MAC play.  I figure if I keep this negative talk going we actually might
