It's been a while since CMU has won a game, but they haven't exactly been on the wrong end of any laughers lately. Ohio wins 68-56.

I expect (and hopefully I'm not just being optimistic) a complete effort out of this team.  I do expect a laugher from CMU Wednesday night.  BGSU was a wakeup call to this team, bring it or go home losers.  I expect the positive end at EMU to carry over.  N'Dour and Kellogg both have good nights and TJ Hall shakes off a bad performance.

The only team they've beaten in the last six weeks was Marygrove College (you remember her) in a stat-padding 127-44 blowout.  They're 1-8 over that span.  Their average margin of loss in MAC road games is 10.3 pts; average margin of loss in MAC home games -- 10.7.  Consistent.

I watched some of their game vs Akron and their a frustrating team to watch because they have some athletes but they just can't play consistently enough to string together a run offensively while playing good defense at the same time. As soon as they began scoring they got lax on defense and vice versa. Hopefully they don't put it all together in Athens and we get an easy win.

Are you cold? I'm cold. All the local bodies of water have frozen over. Whenever that happens, I remember all those winters when Big Bill Presser would come down from Cleveland and take a bunch of us ice fishing on the river. Now, it's a dangerous thing to go ice fishing in Ohio because the ice may or may not hold your weight. Mr. Presser knew this, so he would park his car at the top of the hill and would roll it onto the ice. We'd ask him if he thought the car was heavy enough to test the ice. He'd laugh real loud and say, "There's plenty of weight in the trunk".  I don't know why he thought that was so funny. Well, we never did actually get to go fishing; every single time he rolled a car onto the ice, it would get a ways out there and then there would a huge cracking noise and down the car would go. Mr. Presser would say, "Sorry kids, not today," and a friend would pick him up a real nice new car. I always wondered what Mr. Presser told his wife when he got home and didn't have a car or any of the stuff he'd put in the trunk. I bet she was angry about that.

Jim Christian says Central Michigan is a scary team. Obviously, he means scary in the sense that they could win the game and not that they are scary looking. I would say that Central Michigan has one of the most attractive basketball teams in the Mid American Conference. That begins with head coach Keno Davis and ends with downright dreamy forward Blake Hibbitts, a 6-7 sophomore out of Hudsonville, Michigan. Hibbits has worked his way into the starting rotation, scored 21 against Akron last weekend and shoots the three like Dan Majerle.

CMU is averaging 75 points per game and outscores opponents on average by 3. That is not the usual trademark of a team that's 0-6 in league play. It's going to require a lava cake performance Wednesday night to get by these guys. They will be a tough out.

Temperatures will almost get to 20 degrees on Wednesday, which will feel great. But the Wednesday night low is back in to single digits. In cold weather, it's a good idea to make sure you have a good set of wiper blades on your car. Even if you've got the -25 wiper fluid in your reservoir, a bad set of wiper blades will only smear it across your window, and then you have compromised your visibility.

However, no Bobcat him;  Presser didn't like Green cause it didn't happen testing the ice.

Ohio University closed today (I am assuming due to cold and not snow) so is it a good bet that with colder temps it'll be closed tomorrow? I am assuming that would cancel the game or am I wrong there?

The Wind Chill Advisory ends at noon tomorrow for Athens, so Ohio's First/Finest will probably be open tomorrow, and certainly for the game tomorrow night.

Things ain't what they used to be.  I remember walking to those 8 a.m. classes not matter how cold or snowy it was.  Up Jeff Hill.  To and from class.

Ah, I fondly remember the sledding down Jeff Hill on dining hall trays. The steady visits by EMS to attend to those that could not negotiate the obstructions at the bottom of the hill...

FJM forgot that game time temps are expected to be in the single digits (above zero, at least), but the real JM knows that the last time OHIO played a basketball game with outside temps in single digits we lost big.  The real JM has also calculated that OHIO has only won 18.9 percent of its games with single digit temps historically.  And, therefore, he warns that tomorrow nights game could be a real barn burner, despite the temps.

CMU has given up fewer than 70 pts just once in MAC play this season -- 67 to BG.  We should easily crack 70, maybe get into the 80s. If we play our usual defense, this shouldn't be close.

I agree, Perimeter. I've seen them on TV a couple of times and I think your observations are correct.

Chris Fowler is by far Central's best player. A good PG who gets to the hoop and draws fouls. Goes to the line more than any other CMU player. This will be a challenge for Stevie and Bean, as well as our help defense underneath.

They've got some other guys who can play...but see Perimeter's post above.

They are a pretty decent offensive team, but not very good defensively. Probably a below average rebounding team. One good stat they have is a positive assist to turnover ratio.

Hibbitts and Simons can shoot the three. But that's about it. I'm thinking we may mix in some zone.

Dispatch line is 13 1/2. Hopefully after the bad experience last home game vs. BGSU, this team will come out ready to put this game away in the first half. Should be interesting.

We look completely out of sync.  I know that we've been a second half team on many occasions, but it would be nice to see us get up on someone early in conference play.

Hopefully we don't lose to a bad CMU team in both money sports.

Another troubling first half. At home, again, no less. Sure hope the Cats decide to show up for the 2nd half. Otherwise, CMU gets a very big win. Go OHIO!

Pretty poor half on both ends of the floor. Guard play pretty suspect. Hard to tell if we are very good. Certainly not consistent or predictable.
