-Sitting here watching Sand Diego final minute.  Utah ST 10-1 at home and SDSU is on the ropes but fining a way to win but makes the critical error of not fouling when up 3 with under 10 secs. Still in doubt as I write....ooops going OT.....I am gonna foul every time I ma in that situation.

Dusquene won today on a fantabulous buzzer beater after the kid had missed 2 FT's he made a game winner.

Loyola game was OT and Northern Iowa who really had been in control  game got back on the bus early.

Mich Mich St was a great game.

Ohio EMU was killer finish.

VCU ....ick.

Other games that were not so good included the pasting of Butler......and Dayton at RI

It was a good day. to stay in and watch hoops

.. WOuld like to keep this thread going with thoughts on games folks find interesting.

TOmorrow holds more promise.  Think I will be watching Groce and CO at 1 pm.

Illinois getting a lot of calls today

Kitts making quite a few that I think are out of character. Fun to see the Illini game thread yell "BIG TEN REFS SUCK!" knowing that those are the same guys that work the MAC most days.

That's a point that needs to be emphasized to many of the BAers who constantly complain about MAC refs.  I remember this one guy -- he's still an active ref -- whose name I can't remember.  He's a short guy and tends to have a quick whistle.  BAers after one game were complaining bitterly about how bad he was.  I must admit that I was one of them.  I posted that I thought he had it "in" for Ohio and always called any "close call" against us.  Imagine my utter surprise when I saw this guy ref the NCAA championship game a few years ago.  Must be proof positive that he's one of the worst refs in America!

BTW, I, too, am watching the IU-UI game.  Right now the Illini aren't look too swift.

Nope

Groce does not have much. WIthout the 2 transfers the season would be pretty brutal. Now with Rice injured and playing hurt he has less to work with than before. Frosh are talented but they are raw coming from inner city programs.

Pretty sure firejohngroce.com if not already taken is going to be soon the way the fanbase is criticizing him.... I like this one...

That La Salle-VCU game had a good ending.

I also liked the Miami-BGSU game.  Pretty well played.

I watched the Kent-Toledo game tonight.  Kent played their best game since early in the season but they let it slip away late.  It's gonna take a really good team having a good offensive night combined with an off night by the Rockets for any MAC team to be beat Toledo the rest of the season.  They can be beaten but they are for real.

borna, I saw your boy Nic Moore the other night playing point guard for Larry Brown's SMU team vs. Rutgers.  I had forgotten that he had transferred from Illinois State.  I remember that Ohio recruited him under Groce.

Also saw that Larry Brown scored a recruiting coup by signing a five star PG for next season.

I like Moore's game.  He's physically thick enough and quick to drive through traffic and finish.  He does a good job running the team and finding the open man.

Yeah. Nic Moore could play anywhere... at 5-9 he is a load at any level. Best play I ever saw from him was at State Finals. I was sitting down under the basket ....Nic swooped in and got a rebound, turned and started upcourt, he had taken 2 steps and  before he  even got to the FT line ... I saw his hand move behind the ball as it came back up from the floor and he pushed the ball to the opposite basket....it kept rising like it was on a wire. As it got to the rim his SF came from the wing and met it at the rim.  I have never seen a kid with that strong of a forearm that he could push the ball from behind off the dribble to the opposite rim.

I usually do not like sitting on the end but that play made it worthwhile that night.

Anyone catch the end of the Evansville.Bradley  game? They talked a bit about Evansville vs Ohio before I turned it over to Illinoizzz

I have not got a lot of chances to see many west coast teams not named Oregon. Not too sure what is happening out there.

I enjoyed the Mich Mich st. game too. I really liked watching Gary Harris matched up with Stauskas.  Dayton and Rhody surprised me.

HAs Duke EVER played at Pitt? I can't imagine them ever venturing that far out of Cameron without a reason?

Probably not.  Gotta love some of the new ACC matchups.

Big Ten-ACC challenge is about the only reason they leave home in the non conference, it seems.

It's hard for me to get into high major hoops these last few years.  There's so much turnover year to year I don't habitually watch the games as much as I used to watch.  I try to catch some of the signature/marquee games.  In what I have seen of Michigan I am impressed with how good Stauskas has been.  I never miss an OU game, but outside of us I don't watch a lot until March.

Stauskas has been the MVP, for sure.  But LeVert has been extremely good.  Would've loved to have him...

When Groce took the job, I thought he'd really have his work cut out for him. With the likes of Michigan, Michigan St., OSU, Purdue, Iowa, Wisconsin, Minnesota and Indiana, I thought it would be hard for Illinois to surpass those teams. That would put them near the bottom of the pack, where they are now. But, Indiana, Purdue and OSU only have one more conference win than Illinois. As we know all too well, conference standings can change week by week.

Thanks to the TW Deal, I have not been this far removed from MAC Hoops in a long time. Nothing beat the convenience of flipping DTV to STO or Fox Sports for a quality view and no buffering.

I did cave last night and watched Toledo host Kant. This was another solid MAC battle. Toledo pulled it out at the end but Kant had the lead most of the 2nd half until about the 3:00 point.

Saturday will be a good test to see where we stand. Juice Brown certainly knows how to attack the gaps in a 2-3 zone.

Iowa Mich St. is painfully slowing to an end here. 11 mins w/o a FG by the Hawks. Can you imagine what the board is saying? eeeeeesssshhh. McCaffrey outcoached. Got to be the coach's fault that his kids can't "score" teh ball.

Russell Byrd ......a very distant relative hits a 3 ...yeah....it gonna be over.........On to the Cats.....blue ones tonite

Not sure if I like the LSU floor or not. Cats getting rolled early. 25-11. Dakich has a healthy dislike for UK so this one should be interesting with Nessler who loves the SEC. Wonder if DD's tongue is bleeding

I think I saw at one point Doug McDermott had 29 to St. Johns 28.  Nice 3 pointer for the win for him too.
