Is Harley even practicing yet? I don't see him starting. I'd probably go with Laster there or Treg.

Wouldn't be shocked to see Wadley starting either.

5-Mompremier
4-Campbell
3-Kaminski
2-Gollon (Laster)
1-Simmons

That's a big team.

Wing: Gollon
Wing: Laster
Stretch 4: Kaminski
5: Big Tone

Setty quickly off the bench
Dartis off bench at PG
Block designated Shooter (role of MacAdams and Kretzer at Kron)
Wadley and Doug Taylor getting post minutes
Hope Khari can step in and play

Redshirt Dozier, put on some muscle

I'm excited about Wadly this year. Not sure we can fit Tony, Wadly and Kenny out there at one time.

I've seen crazier things happen.

We seemed to be very productive with Setty at the 3 last year. Against Indiana Tech, I predict:

Simmons
Laster
Setty
Campbell
Mompremier

My guess is that the opening day lineup will look a little different from the opening game of conference play.

1st game of season:

Simmons
Laster
Setty
Kaminski
Campbell
(Mompremier, Dartis, Gollon, Block, Harley, Taylor, Dozier)

1st game of MAC play:

Simmons
Dartis
Gollon
Kaminski
Campbell
(Setty, Mompremier, Laster, Block, Harley, Taylor, Dozier)

Here's a look at Career minutes played for our 12 scholarship players-

1432 Setty
1048 Campbell
563 Laster
400 Harley
378 Kaminski
353 Simmons
215 Mompremier
000 Block
000 Dartis
000 Dozier
000 Gollon
000 Taylor

Just a reminder, we have a total of 2 players who have played more than a single season's worth of minutes on the roster.

I would be ok with Dartis and Gollon starting. If they can handle it I think Laster, Treg and Wadley off the bench would be solid energy guys.

We've had seasons with tons of question marks before but I think this is by far the most. We not only have a ton of guys who've never suited up for us before, I don't think we saw what Saul really wanted to do last year.

So this was the closest to being right with four of the five in the starting 5. Instead of Gollon it was Setty which is a darned big lineup.

Simmons 6'1"
Harley 6'9"
Setty 6'9"
Kaminski 6'8"
Campbell 6'10"

It will be interesting to see if he sticks with this going forward.

We are going to see a number of combinations on the floor as we get into the season. Aside from Simmons, KK, Tony, and I would throw Setty in there also, everyone else will be fighting for minutes. Our staff will earn their pay evaluating who is playing the best, and more importantly, who plays the best together, what are the best combinations out there ??
We need to be patient with this team because the answers to those questions will not be easily found with such an inexperienced roster. This program will be very much a work in progress this season and as fans we need to be realistic with our expectations and enjoy the process.

P.S. The program took a giant step forward yesterday. Latest signing is Saul's biggest to date, by far.

Signing a 2 star recruit that only had other offers from Miami and Kent is by far a bigger pick up than Jaaron and Kenny? I appreciate the optimism but lets keep some perspective here.

Reportedly, he was also getting looks from UD, XU, OSU, and Micheegun. It would not be surprising to see his rating get bumped up at some point. I hear your point though, Jaaron & Kenny were pretty important signings.

The only one of that group that I'm apprehensive about is Harley. I have to believe one of the freshmen guards eventually ends up getting more time than Khari.

The first part of this post highlights one reason why this staff may have chosen to play a softer non-conference schedule this year.

Jason Carter (he is listed on both the Basketball Recruiting Message board and the Recruiting Matrix.)

So after watching Saturday's game I'm predicting that Mike Laster will eventually grab the 2 spot from Harley. Laster had an excellent defensive game on Saturday IMO and gives a little more quickness and strength.

I actually love Mike's energy off the bench. I hope that the starting lineup stays the same, unless perhaps Block or Gollon slip in for Khari. I just felt that Khari was going through the motions offensively and too many times I saw his guy blow past him or get an easy rebound. But as a bench, I love what Wadly, Mike, Doug, Dartis and Gollon/Block brings. Last year we didn't have any of that. And I absolutely love our first four of Setty, Kaminski, Simmons and Campbell. I don't know if any team in the MAC this side of Central can show that much quality in its first four. Even Kron can't do it.
