I assume that this game will not be available in Ohio on TWC. Therefore, our only viewing option will be the aforementioned webcast. Is that correct?

I would check your guide. Time Warner Sports Channel Ohio - Mid-Ohio and Northeast Ohio has the Ohio/St. Bonaventure on its schedule while Time Warner Sports Channel Ohio - Southwest Ohio has the Ohio Division I State Championship game on its schedule. I'm not sure which one of those is shown in Athens.

The Bonnies play at Buffalo tonight. Might try to catch the end if I get home in time. Cleveland State takes on Toledo tonight as well. These will be good measuring stick games for us.

Game is on Time Warner program guide in Cleveland area. Will be interesting to see since it is doubtful the game will start at 4. Hope they don't cut out early on the back end. Nothing Time Warner does is surprising.

Bonas played horrible tonight and UB played even worse. Our blog founder said, 'burn the tape after this one,' and he's right.

UB couldn't make a free throw and Bonas was ice cold from the arc.

There's nothing you can draw from on this game, set basketball back a while!

TWC streams through gobonnies.com are actually really good picture wise. You won't get any ground breaking analysis so just enjoy.

We'll post our game story to give you a better idea of how we see it on Friday.

I caught the end of it and you are correct. The Bonnies went into their prevent offense and it nearly cost them. Buffalo's offense is ugly and will be all year IMO. Last year they had two good penetrating guards and a couple of bigs to get their misses. They just have one of the guards left and both good bigs are gone. But they are physical on defense, something we are not. But they make a lot of games ugly to watch.

Saturday's game will be a completely different story. We move the ball well and can shoot but to say we are not physical on defense is an understatement. But we'll have a size advantage. Our starting five goes 6-1, 6-8, 6-9, 6-9, 6-10. We also go 9 or 10 deep while I believe you guys only play 7. I know your big guy is out for the early part of the year so that will change I'm sure.

this game will be our first (and only) true road game in OOC, I expect the home crowd/gym to be a factor.

We seem to have at least one extended drought a game. Those are a lot tougher to overcome on the road. Let's see howhat we handle it.

UB has a load of talent but they definitely haven't figured out how to play team ball. You're right that we don't have the bigs inside offensively, but we have some serious ball handling guards that took Shannon Evans place. Namely, CJ Massinburg. The kid has been impressive so far.

As for St Bonaventure, we didn't figure out how to stop Wright until the end of the game when we put Hamilton on him. He was the only guy we had with length who could match Wright's speed. Other than that, we handed this game away with undisciplined play. The Bonnies pressed constantly either resulting in a turnover for us or a foul on them where we would go clank our free throws. It was one of the ugliest games I've ever watched.

I know we don't play a lot of zone but this might be a game to mix it in. The Bonnies can't shoot a lick from behind the arc. They were 2-21 last night and are ranked #332 as a team on the year. Of course, they couldn't shoot a lick last year either and managed to his 6-13 against us. Their guards, Marcus Posley and Jaylen Adams, combined for 46 last year hitting 6-10 from 3 and 14-24 overall. Adams used and abused Bean all night. Let's hope Simmons can do a better job on him.

Looked like you guys relied a lot on one-on-one play. Skeete and Wiggington missed seeing a few wide open players and drove for contested shots. Even Bearden didn't seem to be seeing the court very well. Maybe the two games I saw you guys were outliers but in both your offense looked like a serious work in progress.

You're dead right. The offense last year was 2-guards slashing, Moss following up, and Skeete on the wing for kick outs. Now it's just a bunch of undisciplined slashing with their heads down and there is absolutely no off-ball movement. We have some of the best talent we've ever had but it will take some serious coaching to get them ready for MAC play, and Oats has his own issues to deal with outside of basketball.

Another thing about the Bonnies(and sorry in advance to TheBonaBlog who is a great contributor who is very respectful. This is aimed at some of their other fans). The Bonnies went to the Final Four 45 years ago, but there are a few of their fans who act as though it happened last year. Many of them have this inflated view of their program as though SBU is a household name in midmajor ball with the prestige of a VCU or a JMU. Someone on their board actually made the comment: "While scouting OHIO, Bona is essentially their keystone game for OOC". Not Florida State, not Tulsa, but St Bonaventure. Do you guys agree?

I've been reading their board for the last week so I saw that. I also saw they were making fun of your attendance and then I looked it up and their attendance is pretty much the same as yours. I wouldn't say this game is our toughest game by far but it might be the most important OOC game for us. It's our only true road game and the Bonnies are a good team. If we win it and then beat Cleveland State next week we've got a real shot at 10-2 coming in to league play. To their credit someone called out the guy above on that claim.

Bona is a good program in an excellent conference, there is no doubt about that. I'm old enough to remember watching Bob Lanier and the Bonnies in the Final Four all those years ago. Also, it hasn't been that long since they were in Sweet 16.

This should be a close, competitive game. Biggest challenge for Ohio will be trying to guard dribble penetration and avoid turnovers. I think Bona will be favored by four or five.

Do you think it will be that little? I was thinking more along the lines of 7 or 8.

Basing that on Sagarin. Of course, that system has Ohio higher than other systems like Kenpom and RPI.

I noticed that quote too and was amused by it but was also impressed that it was immediately rebuffed by another poster. UB and OU are coming off of polar opposite years but I think we share some similarities at the beginning of this season, namely having talent but lacking consistency. Ohio has really struggled with turnovers and pressure, if St.B attacks OU they way they attacked Buffalo its going to be a big challenge for the Cats.

Speaking of Cats, on their blog recap of the UB game they mention their next opponent is the BEARcats. oops.

Huh? Last time the Bonnies were in a Sweet 16 was 1970, the same year they went to the Final Four. They have made the tournament 2 times since 1978 (2000 & 2012) and they lost in the 1st game each time.

Looking a little more closely at Bonaventure's line up, here's a few observations-

SENIORS (3)
-Marcus Posley, PG. Leads team in scoring(18.3) and minutes(37.5), 38%FG, 27%3pt. Ball State transfer, 2*.
-Dion Right, PF. 2nd in scoring(17.3), leads team in rebounds(8.8). No other offers out of high school, 2*.
- David Andoh, PF. Hasn't played this season, medical redshirt. Transferred from SJSU and Liberty. 3*.

JUNIORS (3)
- Matt Mobley, PG. Hasn't played this season, transfer redshirt. Transferred from Cent Conn. No other offers out of high school, 2*.
- Courtney Stockard, SG. Hasn't played this season, reserve with broken toe. JUCO transfer, 2*.
- Denzel Gregg, SF. 26.7min/gm, 9.2pts, 6.0rebs. Two other offers out of high school, 2*.

SOPHOMORES (2)
- Jaylen Adams, PG. 2nd in minutes(34.8), 13.0pts/gm, leads team in assts(4.3). Offer from 1 other school, 2*
- Idris Taqqee, SG. 25.8min/gm, 3.3pts, 4.2rebs. Two other offers out of high school, 2*.
-

FRESHMEN (4)
- Nelson Kaputo, PG. 20.5min/gm, 6.3pts, 3.0assts. leads team in 3pt%(.345). Eight other offers out of high school 2*.
- LaDarien Griffin, SF. 4.0min/gm, 1.0pts, 0.5rebs. No other offers out of high school, 3*.
- Derrick Woods, PF. 18.2min/gm, 5.3pts, 3.2rebs. Four other offers out of high school, 2*.
- Jordan Tyson, C. Red shirt, 3*.

St. Bonaventure has 12 players on scholarship but 4 of them appear to be taking red shirts this season for various reasons. Of the 8 available players one plays 4min/gm, leaving them with just a 7 man rotation- 2 seniors, 1 junior, 2 sophomores, and 2 freshmen. Our depth might be an advantage for us on the road. Also worth noting that as a team they are only shooting 26.9% from 3.

They don't blow you away on paper but they are an A10 team and they'll be confident at home vs a MAC opponent. Looking forward to this one, should be a good one.

That 2000 triple OT loss to Kentucky in Round 1 was a GREAT game though!! I was there for the Regional rounds in Cleveland and the entire CSU Convo was up out of their seats rooting for the underdog Bonnie's. Great great game.
