My youngest sister's Bday. A ton of stuff going on that day in 1970. Good memories of NCAA FB and BB,NFL, NBA and all the individuals who were shaping my life on that Sunday morning.

Today is a good day. Hoops are not so pressing as the game selection is in that lull of Non Con and tourneys are just over so the match ups will be like not real exciting today save for a couple.

Mich St and Providence should be good but late
Wichita St is reeling but see a need a win Iowa club in a good match up
Monmouth gets USC to complete the sweep of LA teams

in the MAC toledo, western are on and BG gets mighty Urbana.

Probably the best game of the day for me is X vs UD in Fla. Now that X is too good to play UD (some of those X fans are delusional thinking that being BE makes them too good to play A 10 teams) this may be the only way they see each other. I remember when UD was just off a Final Four and the shoe was on the other foot and Tom Frericks and Coach Donoher were standing in the old UD Feildhouse while I was waiting for my pops, having the same conversation about going to the Gardens vs X. It goes in circles. Butler is saying the same thing about playing Balls and others in state who were rivals before their rise the last decade. It comes and goes.

Western gets Mercer in Nashville at an oddly Convo like arena built in the early 60s

looks like Wichita St is still reeling. Down 20 to Iowa. They look to drop out of the top 25 for sure this week. Will be interesting to see how Marshall regroups. After years of being the next most wanted coach for each vacancy it will be interesting to see if his stock stays the same or falls. Iowa getting comfy will make the B1G race a little more interesting with tO$U, Wisky and Mich not looking as sharp and Mi St, Purdue, IU and the Hawks on the rise. Northwestern and Ill gonna have to play well to be a factor.

Looking forward to UD X as the folks who travelled will be loud and boisterous. UD always brings a ton on the road. Interesting

Watched the first half of this game. Toledo looks to be similar to their teams recently, good offense, indifferent defense. Which should make our game against them this year must watch TV.

My question is what happened to the Great Alaskan Shootout? Let's just say the field this year was...uninspiring.

Once the NCAA changed the exempt status for mainland tournaments, it made the Great Alaskan Shootout much less attractive.

I didn't know that. Thanks Ted. I was thinking the same thing. I read UT in the Great Alaskan Shootout, and thought, great for them! Then I saw the field.

Alaska, or Florida/Vegas/Cancun? The interest for fans this time of year is pretty easy.

I do frequently wear my Great Alaska Shootout one of my hoops patients gave me from his goodie bag in 2005. Long sleeve and just the right color of green to wear under OHIO gear. Looks like it may become a collectors item.
