Neat. Thanks for posting. OU-C obviously needs a few more good players.

Maybe the OZone should switch up the "Stand for Defense" from just standing until the opponent scores to standing until we make 3 stops/defensive rebounds/etc.., on defense

There's a follow up video with Jeremy Schapp after this one that does a better job of explaining it. Looks really cool.

Student involvement at our basketball games has grown stale. Wish that could be rejuvenated. Some student leaders have tried to address this but with little support. At a school like Taylor, the students seem to realize that when they support their athletic teams, they are part of something bigger than themselves that builds community. But at Ohio, it's declined to the extent that the athletic dept has to cater to students through constant promotions to get even a halfway decent student turnout. And there is very little effort and imagination used in cheering, etc.

What will it take to revitalize?

I think the follow up vid is very good. Groce and Holtmann are both part of this tradition....saw their fanboards talked about emulating it but deferred

That's fantastic.

Given the way OUr team is built, this would be a great idea to pivot off of rather than the stand. (though we need defense, so...)

Might I suggest winning and challenging for a conference title?

One bad season, and we have to win a conference title to rejuvenate student interest? I'd hope that's not the case.

Lest Monroe misquote me by looking at your summary. I said CHALLENGE for the conference title, though winning it would be even nicer. And have a winning record.

Fair point. I got in a hurry on my reply. Regardless, I'd hope one bad year doesn't affect student attendance that much. You have to believe this team is good enough to win more than they lose (I know you do) and they're surely entertaining.

I think once the students get back in town and with the record at that point in the season, we'll begin see more students attending. I also think the increase in the overlap between football and basketball season that's occurred over the last few decades makes it harder for some students to get into basketball during the November-early-December time period. And, then by the second week in December they are either gone or getting ready to pack.
