watching SMU and michiGONE and remembering a conversation I had regarding the recruitment of Nic Moore to take DJ's place when Coop would leave..... I was admonished and told he was too short for the MAC...now he has followed jancovich to SMU and continues to WOW! me. 5'9 in the thickest kicks he can find he is just spectacular running this team and penetrating to finish or more often serve up a dime for a spectacular dunk. SMU is sitting top 20 behind his PG antics and he is proving that he is not only big enough for the MAC but is tall enough to serve notice to the rest of the NCAA that 5 foot sumthin with skills and vision is more than enough.

Agree w bornacat. And Jaaron Simmons could develop into a similar player.

Army blows out Bryant at Bryant, 77-55. Roger Williams' exile to the wilderness and subsequent settling in Rhode Island come to mind.

This one going on in The Garden right has been a fun one to watch. Terps are for real. Coach Ollie's T toward the end was really a killer.

i think Maryland is going to be a contender in the conference. Melo and Diamond Stone are exciting and efficient. Surrounded with some experienced Seniors should make them fairly tough in a shaken up conference. Traditional Powers are down save for Mi St. Purdue is up, Md up. Wisky down, NW up, IU and Illinois just ok, Iowa a dark horse. It's a weird year.

Across hoops so far, a lot of parity this year with no one jumping out

I went Xavier-Wright State. X plays four 6'10'' guys and does a great job of denying any action near the paint. They'll even put two bigs on the ball on under out-of-bounds plays which pretty much forces the inbounds pass to be baseball style into the backcourt. It seems so simple, but I've never seen anyone do that before. Wright had a lot of good looks but couldn't hit anything. Might've been more competitive if they had any makers.

It'll be very interesting to see the Shootout with UC on Saturday. I can't remember the last time both teams were very, very good. X by 10.

They had played like they expected to win the first few games of the season and let some inferior teams stay closer than they should have. UNC punched them in the mouth the first half and it appears to have awakened them. The Terps have looked really good since that first half.

I'm a UC fan, not an X fan, but I agree with your prognosis. Bearcats are good, but I think X is probably better, especially at Cintas. One thing I can say about UC, is that they have depth, and a lot of it. I think this is, without question, Mick's most talented squad. The two freshman, Jenifer and Evans, are both outstanding. I'm not sure about Xavier other than what I saw versus Dayton, where they were excellent.
