The fact that he sees his girl friend as one who has helped him mature is real telling, as women when it's the right one, can have a very positive influence on a man. Article did not mention his family, I wonder about that aspect of his life. Certainly a balancing act to not shoot down a player's other prospects, but if the player brought the trouble upon himself/herself, it's fair game vs. allowing others to think that the coach wanted the player off the team for any other reason.
