  Message Not Read  Basketball App
   Posted: 1/20/2016 12:48:37 AM
Russell mentioned tonight something about an app that he highly recommends for listening to college basketball games. I think he was talking about an iPhone and/or Android phone app. Did anyone catch the name of the app he was talking about? I'd like to try it out. Sounded neat the way he described it. Thanks.

[As usual, I was listening to the broadcast while at the game, and I believe was talking about this at a time when there was a lot of crowd and/or band noise so I missed hearing it completely.]

I listen to the Cats on TuneIn Radio on the Android. Broadcasts on Ohiobobcats.com or Power 105. For most other games I can find them on Tune in either by using the search function and typing in the name of the team I am looking for or I can do a search by locality for a local broadcast in that area or school network like the one that broadcasts the Cats.

I use TuneIn as well. My boys events more often than not are going on the same time as our games so it's a lifesaver.

I usually just use the Power 105 app since that station carries pretty much the only things I'd use up my data on, but obviously some of those other apps will give you a chance to listen to all kinds of other games and things.

Thanks, guys. I don't think Russell mentioned Tune-In. It was, from what I heard, a basketball and/or college sports centric app he was recommending. It sounded quite intriguing as he described it. I heard the description pretty well, but I missed the first sentence where he gave the name of the app. Perhaps, Bob Haldeman (aka color guy) would know.

Tune in is a great app that I use almost every day. It's great for College hoops, as well as college football. You could also use it to find interesting radio stations for music or talk radio worldwide. I've used it to listen to English and German football on the Saturday morning game day ride to Athens.

You could also use http://tunein.com/radio/sports / from a computer or tablet.

Something else I thought of regarding this is an account well worth following for Twitter users. It's called Banannas Alert, and it posts close games as the game is winding down. I set it up to give me a notification on my phone, so if I want, I can switch to that channel. @BananasAlert works great on a Saturday afternoon gameday when paired with ESPN3!

My favorite basketball app is either the bloomin' onion or those southwest egg roll things.

The obvious answer here is soft pretzels. As long as they're hot.

C'mon fellas, that's low hanging fruit. :)

Do I detect thread drift? ;-)

I also listen on Tune-In Radio and listen to 105.5 on my phone. I usually have one earpiece in when at the games. There is a bit of a delay of the broadcast from real time..sometimes that helps explain what I thought I saw:)

For instance last game I did not know that the shot clock wasn't working on the home end of the court because of where I sit until Russ mentioned it.

I don't think I have missed listening to a game in the last 3 years if I wasn't able to be there or watch on tv because of Tune-In Radio.
