Here's why that 67-65 win is so memorable for me.

* Lynne and I were there.
* We'd taken two young disadvantaged inner-city boys - about 11 or 12.
* It was their first college basketball game.
* When we walked into The Convo, the first thing the boys saw was four bare-chested OU men, each man's chest sporting a large letter of OHIO. The men were wearing green fright wigs. The two boys' eyes widened.
* The crowd - as I recall - 12,000+
* With about 12 minutes to go, OU trailed by about 15 pts.
* Then it was as if Geno pushed a button labeled UL for Ultra Energy.
* OU came to life.
* The crowd began roaring - so loudly that Lynne and I could barely hear each other.
* The two young boys went nutso.
* When OU took a two point lead, it seemed like the crowd's roaring would lift the roof off The Convo.
* And then what you see on the video happened - OU stopped Miami, Geno grabbed the rebound and dribbled out the clock.

Afterward one of the boys who had seen a Cavs game said something like, "This was lots more fun than pro ball."

That video needs to find a dark room to collect dust in. The game where Geno ran it out however was a classic. Convo was sold out that day and the crowd was just over 13,000. I still have the last 5 minutes of that game on VHS tape of all things. I just remember how intense the fans were that day. When Ohio would have to make a defensive stand the place would come to its feet screaming! I hope we are beginning to move back in that direction today. I think the crowd will be solid but nothing approaching the 13,000. For one thing Miami is awful and the stakes just aren't as high. I also have a feeling the Bobcats can run Miami out of the gym. Now that I think about it, I actually wish we were playing Akron at home today and only trailing them by one game! The atmosphere would be electric!!!

And those were some of the best games to be played in the Convo.
