Stayed for the 1st half of the Buffs vs Miami last nite. While it is always a given that few if any Miami fans will show and last nite was true to form. The silence from the non-attending Miami fans was deafening when they announced the starting line-ups.

One would have thought that the Miami Pep Band, cheerleaders and dance team would have been more in the spirit of the moment and cheered on their fellow Redhawks. Oh wait not only didn't Miami send any fans they didn't bother to send a band, a cheerleader nor a dancer.

Classy - really classy!

They should get reprimanded by the league. Embarrassing.

On another note, NIU's band jamming 70s Rock was great

They all might be in Minnesota for the hockey conference tourney.

I always like to hang around the Miami table in the entrance of the Q during the tournament. One year they sold me one of their session's courtside seats for five bucks.

Are you serious about NIU's jamming between every dead ball? I found it annoying has heck as did a lot of people around me. I hope your being sarcastic and I'm just not picking up on it.

Disagree, Gallia! I kinda liked it. I'll admit it seemed out of place when they jammed after a bad Husky play.

Lol. It was a break from the other bands. Maybe cause I sat through the two earlier games before ours and already heard about 5 different marching band renditions of uptown funk? At least Niu went a different route. Maybe cause it was 70s Rock for us old farts and not Rihanna or pitbull or walk the moon or such.

It may have been better in person, but it sounded terrible on TV. Could barely here Reghi talk during dead ball situations.

I found the NIU band every time out to be annoying as well.

As for the no band thing, it lessens the experience but it's not like Ohio has never done it. One of the years the opening round was in Cleveland instead of Campus sites, Ohio left the band at home.

AP Sports Writer Tom Withers tweeted positive things about the NIU band cranking out those hits

Another reason to like it.

Seriously, a band playing at timeouts at a college basketball game has to be a good thing doesn't it?
