I got an email saying I was invited to a "special announcement" in Walter Hall at 4:30 tomorrow, and if I can't make it, I can watch the livestream. That's the extent of what the email says.

(I'm not really sure why I got the email, but I can't make it anyway, so whatev)

My guess is someone is giving a bunch of money for something. The email says its copyrighted by "OHIO University Communications and Marketing" so I don't think it's athletics-related.

Edit: I clicked the livestream leak and it's described as the "Ohio University Board of Trustees Rotunda Event," so I highly doubt it is athletics-related (unless we're moving to the Big 12 and the Trustees want just want to thumb their noses at UC).

Looks like at the end of 2017 school year which also corresponds with the end of the house lease. Announcement at 4:30. This is a very common method to retirement. He serves out his contract, they conduct a national search during that year and the new person takes over July 1, 2017, in a new presidential house.

I just hope the next president is as accessible and engaged as Rod has been and Glidden before him.

This university had been lucky with its Presidents. Let's hope that continues.

Huge thanks to President and Mrs. McDavis.

McDavis was a home run hire as an alum with the pedigree as Provost to become president. In 13 years he's done so much for the university. The big fundraising drive and steering Ohio through a period of legislative funding changes. Master plan I believe was the last thing he wanted to approve before moving on to retirement. I'd take a provost from WVU or Kentucky with similar rural missions. McDavis from VCU and Glidden from Florida State worked out good.
