I guess a postseason run was all Khari needed to help him evolve. The guy was fantastic defensively with his length and his effort when he was called upon against UNC-Greensboro. He has shown some offensive skills as well. Where was he when we were losing to athletic BGSU? Where was he when Akron was killing us on the perimeter? I am at a loss with some of the actions of Saul this year. From playing Wad early to bringing in Doug now. From starting Khari to benching him to bringing him in for major key moments in the tourney. To playing Gavin less..I wish someone would ask him. I still love that Khari is stepping up. That only gives us that much extra of a roster next year if he can be a party of the bench crew.

It's a game of matchups and they have a lot more info than we do. Maybe Khari has stepped up in practice or maybe his back was bothering him. Maybe Doug is a little bit better than Wadley. Who knows.

Newer coaches tend to play "their" guys and look longer term at guys they can develop. Makes it tough on holdovers. And, believe it or not, we fans do not always know what happens in practice or after hours (thank God).

Saul has been on the record saying Harley has practiced well. Great to see him having success at the END of the season. I think we all knew he'd be a project wing. He's the kind of bench player that could be huge next season.

And for some reason, I was thinking this was his junior season, but he's a redshirt sophomore this year

What a day at the Convo.....Wow!

A redshirt sophomore with little playing time under his belt. I thought this might be another learning year.

Khari entered with 9:41 left in the game, down 11 points. Saul didn't substitute anyone the next 9 minutes until the game was tied. The turnaround happened with Khari, Tony, Jaaron, Treg, & Jordan.

We won the game because our defense tightened the last 9 minutes, giving our offense a chance to finally get hot, which they did right at the end.

Khari is still very raw offensively, but he proved he could play defense Monday, which was very much needed.

Does that say something about the starter whose name isn't listed there?

Yes, it does. Particularly on the defensive end. And offensively KK just didn't have much, there were a couple possessions where he lost the ball when he could have pulled up for a midrange shot but choose not to. He's an enigma, I keep thinking that if he gets in a groove and the rest of the guys do their regular thing the W is a lock.

And Block. I love his upside, but he got burned more often than a piece of toast at my parents' house last night. (They burn their toast every time)

From one of the internal pages of the StatBroadcast program that our SID uses to track the game, Khari had a +12 plus/minus rating on Monday........which I believe led all Bobcats.

Sure, that not a great individual metric to necessarily use, but if nothing else, he was on the floor in the highest leverage situation and that unit succeeded.

He was on the floor in crunch time...I noticed how hard he was working on trailing his man through their offense. They had a lot of motion and cuts going on...Harl was working and pursuing ...not sure the one who sat down would have been that attentive to the D end. I watched him off the ball most of the last minutes of the game as it was remarkable.

never argue with idiots, they bring you down to their level and beat you with experience.

I watched the roughly 5 minutes of highlights of the UNC-Greensboro on OHIOBOBCATS.com When Greensboro got by our first line of defense, there wasn't much help back there. Got past one man and to the hoop pretty much unimpeded.

I guess that's too typical of us this year.

Can Taylor or Khari backstop that without killing our offense?

Yes I noticed this with Khari too, he was working so hard to stay in actual physical contact with his cutting man that he was using his hands and even got called for it once. But he was working hard and you could see that defensive intensity with all the guys on the floor coming down the stretch. Would love to see that from OUr guys for 40 minutes.
