After the WNIT game last night, I had some fun watching a car that left the game with WV plates make the seemingly impossible left handed turn into the roundabout, proceed the wrong direction in the roundabout, then make another very difficult left turn out of the roundabout. Just as the Terd fan was getting out of the roundabout, a car from Richland was coming head-on at him/her. Fun times! Keep your eyes peeled on the road any time Marshall comes to Athens.

I'm more surprised a Marshall fan didn't park in the middle of the roundabout.

They have roundabouts in WV. All the roads go roundabout the mountains.

It's for the best-they would just drive around in circles indefinitely, wondering why they were not getting anywhere. City planners figured there was already an operation in town that is stuck in a circular cycle-never going someplace new or better. ; )

This is too funny. My wife, a Huntington native, fails to see the humor. OCF will not see the humor. I'll have to ck w my father in law from Huntington to see what he thinks.

Those of us who have roots in the mountains can take a joke. I'm proud of my 50% WV heritage -- farmers from outside Pliny. My WV kin are some of the finest people around. They'd do anything to help someone else and don't hold grudges.

Glad nobody was injured in the roundabout. Go, Bobcats!

My question is, do you think they ever realized that they screwed that up?

I prefer jokes about Clevelanders:

Q: What is the difference between a person from Cleveland and a baby?
A: The baby will stop whining after awhile.

And, two Cleveland city ordinances are worth mentioning in this regard:

1. It's illegal to catch mice without a hunting license!

2. Women are forbidden from wearing patent leather shoes, lest men see reflections of their underwear.

============================================

OK, now that that's off my chest: Roundabouts, though they are increasing in number in this country, are still not all that common. I remember our first experience with them in England over a decade ago. The only time we got honked at for our erratic left-side driving was when my wife stopped in the middle of a roundabout because she wasn't sure which exit we wanted. I've grown to really love the Richland roundabout. They are very easy to use once you understand the principles involves, but they can be intimidating if you don't understand them and have little experience with them. At least every week or two I still see someone who is confused by the Richland roundabout.

I will not attempt to defend the intelligence of a Marshall Fan.

However, the first time I drove through the Roundabout,I got confused.
And I design intersections.

As I said in another thread,in N.J., the trend is to replace outdated "circles" with signalized intersections, not Roundabouts.

You forgot law #3, in effect apparently since early 1965:

#3. No Cleveland professional sports team shall win a championship in its respective sport.

Cleveland's done an outstanding job in observing law #3, especially the Browns.

Some even go THROUGH the mountains, in a tunnel!

I find this whole thread to be amusing. My wife...who is from SEO and has a fit everytime we come to a roundabout ...which they did not grow up with in Redtown or Glouster,...has long heard my laments on folks down there who don't understand the concept of a roundabout and constantly STOP at the one North of Nelsonville and by the Convo when there is nothing in the roundabout or coming from any direction, pondering what they are to do . Meanwhile the rest of the world ...and Indianapolis have embraced the fact that you do not have to wait at a light or wait as idiots sit at stop signs not knowing what right of way means and who should proceed next. I say this as I was following an old man in a huge pick up truck that stopped in the middle of a Muncie roundabout to let the car coming in from the right go ahead of him.

never argue with idiots, they bring you down to their level and beat you with experience.

Hilliard, Ohio, near work and home, has embraced the round-about concept to the point that they have even constructed abutting and connected round-abouts in the center of town; one of which encircles a Donato's for heaven's sake. If you want to practice dodging people who have zero driving etiquette (or skill) come on up.
