There are plenty of good tournament opportunities for teams. The ones they are referring to are made for TV events and those are the teams that are going to draw viewers. I think it speaks to a bigger point than a couple of tournaments. College sports is an oligarchy, and the rich programs have inbuilt advantages of keeping it that way. The symbiotic relationships with networks described in the article being one of many.
