I've never understood folks objection when athletes speak out (college or pro): "Shut up and just play ball." "Who asked you?" or the ultimate absurdity asking/demanding that the university take their scholarship away. Speak out young men. Be engaged. true discussion leads to a better way forward. I hold Ali, Jim Brown and others like them in high esteem not because of what they did in a boxing ring or on a football field. Instead, I think highly of them because of how they spoke out on issues that were important to them. While never a fan of LeBron James, I'm beginning to appreciate how he's speaking out on local and national issues.
