We've got some real 3 point shooters, even our center. They will make most games interesting if they're on.

How about Oregon today, currently ranked fourthin the country, shooting 3 of 21 threes today. Ouch.

Kaminski is the key. He seems more versatile this season and can definitely hit a contested shot or two. His shot selection against Sam Houston State was excellent and he went 5-for-5.

Dartis is also a HUGE key. Last year he was our best 3pt shooter at 48%.

What a day at the Convo.....Wow!

There's something about Campbell making 3-pointers that just seems to deflate the will of the opponent. Saw it last year at Ball State.

At that point, they realize they're going to have to guard every single player all over the court and it's a game-changer.

Guards? Sure. Kaminski and Block? Yeah. But when you've got your MAC POY candidate who can consistently win on the block stepping out and consistently draining those, it's just murder on them.

I like how it can open things up and make opponent defense honest. I just hope we don't fall in love with the 3 and forget how to run the offense.

Isn't it safe to say that the 3-point shot is part of the offense?

I'm not too concerned. We have 4-5 guys who last year that shot near, or over 40%.

I had to laugh when hearing an assistant coach making fun of Tommy...."how many 2s did you take in your career"....."I think less than the number of 3's I MADE" he answered laughing...

never argue with idiots, they bring you down to their level and beat you with experience.

I believe that I heard yesterday that thru the early part of this year 79 NBA players have taken more 3s than 2s.

It's just math (3 > 2) on a slightly longer shot with guys practicing to become deadeyes.

Jamerson and Ohio were about the first to pick up on this, right?

The ball movement that is the key to this offense is what's leading to all the open threes. There were a couple of forced threes that I remember (Tony and Kenny) but for the most part it was just beautiful. We have four really good shooters and they have taken all but four of our attempts this year. Jaaron can hit the three but IMO he's not a natural shooter. If he's wide open he'll hit it though. But Kaminski/Dartis/Campbell/Block have combined for 23-43 from three. That's hard to defend when you have someone like Simmons on the court to distribute.

Ball movement = offense (for shots 3 or 2). When that round object is shared, guys play harder in all aspects of the game.

First team I remember relying heavily on the threes and succeeding was Rick Pitino's Providence team that made the final four behind Billy Donavan and Delray Brooks.

Was that after Jamerson? My understanding is that OHIOs Jamerson led the nation in scoring largely on being a fine shot who was the first to take advantage of the 3-point shot.

Jamerson was here the year that Providence made it to the Final Four in 1987 but his big year wasn't until 1989.
