Looking more and more like 3 years and done for Christian. Never had the lead against Nicholls State....at home. All Bobcat fans should continue to send Christmas cards to BC Athletic Director for hiring him away. I'm sure JC will be sending his resume soon to Oxford. #BackToTheMAC

Christian at Miami would be simply glorious!!!! I'm amazed at how quickly Saul rebuilt Ohio basketball. Christian lived on Groces talent and then jumped ship. I'm rooting for another winless season!

He's reviled by many on this board, but he won a lot of games in his short tenure here and a ton more at Kent State. I actually think it'd be great if Fiami got him because he'd inject some life into our zombie-like rivalry and probably help turn around the dumpster fire in Oxford. I don't think it'll happen, but he'd certainly be vastly better than anyone there since Charlie.

It should be quite the showdown this Sunday as Jeff Boals and Geno Ford bring the mighty Stony Brook Seawolves to Beantown to take on Jimmy's BC squad.

I'm rooting for him to succeed. He came here, worked his butt off for two years. I'll root for Saul after he leaves as well and it's looking like it's going to be harder and harder to live by his ten year promise.

I was pretty ticked when JC left Ohio. Until I learned about Saul.

I've let bygones be bygones, love the "new" regime.

He also brought in our first NBA player in a while.

That would make for some entertainment if it were to happen.

At least he was able to control him to some degree.

Conversely, it seems Christian's predecessor John Groce is enjoying a 3-0 start at Illinois, although their latest win is over a college I've never heard of, McKendree. Hopefully he finds more success this year than his previous years there.

Simply having his team stay healthy should result in more success that the prior two seasons. The bad luck of those years was just brutal. They have some talent, and could be pretty darn good this year.

HAHA most of their fans have never heard of Rio Grande either....or of Taylor whicn both he and Holtmann....Both graduated. The NCAA has some intersting constraints on scheduling right now leading everyone into bringing D3 and NAIA opponents in to fill out the schedule. McKendree is a staid old private school most of us who have lived in ILL have had some contact with....my friends who are alums are pretty smart cookies ....used to be McK College....like my alma mater Illinois Bendedictine ..formerly IBC...now Nen U McK is now McK U

Rio Grande was an exhibition though which I believe was done more for the local area than anything.

Old classmate of mine was the Vice President of Student Affairs and later Athletic Director at McKendree, Todd Reynolds. Great guy and was one hell of a ball player back in the day!

We also have Urbana on the schedule and that's not an exhibition. Most teams schedule at least one non-D1 game. Some up to 4.

How do you know he worked his butt off? All I saw was a guy given the keys to a Ferrari who coached like he preferred a hooptie. Turned Ivo into a shell. Misused Walt in favor of Reggie every play and made Jon Smith hate hoops. Then he used us for 2yrs and left for a crap job. Those are facts.

Please, Ivo turned into a shell well before Christian. His junior year under Groce he attempted 2 free throws in his last 13 games. Christian also brought us our first regular season title since 1994 and had only one fewer win entering the tournament than Groce did the year before. The difference between Groce and Christian was the MAC Championship game. If you want to blame anybody for us not having the year you thought we should blame Groce.

Christian didn't bring us anything. The players did. It was a weak Mid-Am that year to start with and with ALL OF THE SAME GUYS as the previous year we lost by 30 in the MAC title game. Groce wasn't at the MAC title game that year. The next year we didn't even make the MAC title game with a team, once again, filled with solid players. Christian failed at TCU, he's failing at BC and he inherited two stud teams, ran us out of gas and moved on.

You want to talk about building something? Saul inherited crap from...ummm...who was that? Oh yeah, Christian and has built us back up to a higher level again. I would not fault him for moving on if he had a chance because he RESTORED us. All Christian was asked to do was MAINTAIN and we dropped lower and lower under him. He did the same at Kent. He inherited and left and when he had to build at TCU and build at BC he has FAILED.

LOL, Saul inherited a current NBA player, a future MAC POY and a number of other good ball players including one of my all-time favorites in Treg Setty. He also unfortunately inherited one that would bring his system crashing down. The problem is that they didn't really fit Saul's system and to some extent neither did the players that Christian inherited. Sounds like I struck a very tender nerve with someone.

I agree with Van and don't get the Christian hate, which often coincides with unquestioning Groce reverence. Does anyone really think JC was expecting a high major offer? Would anyone here turn down a massive pay raise if Brad Bates was dumb enough to call them and offer it?

The 2012 Sweet 16 team was a single point away from not even making the tournament, and some of you think that run somehow guaranteed that the 2013 team would at least equal that performance. That 2013 team won a regular season championship and made the MACC game. Yeah, they had a crappy final game, there were serious chemistry issues, etc. But to suggest that JC didn't try or care -- or that he was biding his time for a miracle offer that probably shocked him even more than it did us -- is laughable.

I think both Groce and Christian did a good job in Athens. Groce won 60% of his games but only 53% in MAC play. Christian won 70% overall and 74% in MAC.

And to say Saul inherited crap is nonsense.
