I just thought it might be interesting to have folks list the national scoring leaders that they've personally seen play in Athens prior to tonight. Here, from memory, are those I remember:

Rick Mount, Purdue
Manny Newsome, WMU
Howard Komives, BG
Dan Palombizio, BSU

There may be some that I've forgotten, but those come to mind readily. The Newsome, Komives thing is interesting, as it was the same year and the two were vying for the national leader. It went back and forth all season. This was in the ealry '60s. I can't remember who actually won the scoring title, or if a third guy made a run at the end of the season and won it.

Ohio Cat Fan, I believe Dave Jamerson was 2nd in the nation in scoring in 1989-90 and might have had held the lead at one point in that season. I will have to do some double checking. Perhaps some of our astute posters might know off the top of their heads.

Leo Byrd from Marshall had to be close at 29.3.
No it was the big O that year.

If I recall, Jamerson was #1 for a short period of time during that season. Perhaps around December/non-conference season?

I think you guys may be right. That kind of rings a few bells in the recesses of my more hard to activate synapses.

Anyone recall how many Mitch Miracle tossed down in the 70's when we eked out a win over Marietta? He was bombing away from Richland Ave. before 3 pointers were in effect.

Dave Schellhaus (sp?) of Purdue. Was leading the nation or was darn close. As I recall - vaguely - the Cats edged the Boilers.

Yes, he was #2 in the country at 30+. Can't imagine he didn't lead at one point as his 60 point game against Charleston was fairly early in the schedule.

Trent might've been for a while as well. He was 4th in the nation in '94-'95 and finished just 40 points behind the leader, Bryant Reeves from OkSt.
