NCAA - Whomever wins the MAC Tourney NIT - Akron if they lose this week. Nobody else has a shot. CBI, CIT, Vegas 16 - Ohio, Buffalo, Ball State, Kent St Western and Toledo are possibles but I would label them as unlikely. Not sure if the Vegas 16 is still around but saw an article from last year that said it would return. The lack of updates since last year gives me pause however as to it's survival. I know Akron is the only team guaranteed a spot if it doesn't go to the NCAA, but it seems like we usually get another team in instead when the regular season champ gets taken off the board. Then again, if there was ever a year for that to not happen, the rest of the league's resumes this year might make that a real possibility. However since they added the auto bids in 2007, the only At-Large NIT bids were 2014 Toledo (6 seed, 27-6) , 2013 Ohio (6 seed 24-9) & 2008 Akron (6 seed 23-10). Incidentally, the last MAC team to win a game in the NIT was Kent State in 2011. There are six 13 seeds, with four playing at Dayton. Based solely on RPI, at the moment the six would be Vermont, Houston, Princeton, Providence, Georgia and Akron. Three of the six would be conference tourney champs (Vermont, Princeton and Akron), so at least one conference tourney champ would play at Dayton. Akron has the worst RPI of both groups. They will group the last 2 pairs of at-large teams on the same seed line. A conference champ / auto bid will not be in the play-in games unless its the 4 lowest (16 seeds). Edit: The last 4 at-large seeds / play in games were for 11 seeds the last two years and one game for an 11 seed / one game for a 12 seed in 2014. The 12/13 seeds that play in Dayton are all at-large teams. The only conference champs that play in a play-in games are 16 seeds. For the first time in history, the Ivy has a conference championship made up of the top four teams. Princeton plays Penn and Harvard plays former OU assistant coach James Jones' Yale Bulldogs with all games in the Palestra. That would be a fun show to see.
