Wow. Didn't Indiana win an outright Big 10 title just last year? And the sweet 16 several times?

Talk about March Madness.

It was a firing that needed to happen. Since Year 4 when the probation ended, this is where they're at after 9. Therefore you gotta assume that's his 5 years he's been given.

"A firing that needed to happen"? A reminder that the word fan is derived form fanatic. Lunatic is close.

Dude went to the sweet 16 3 times and won the Big10 regular season title twice in those "5 years he's been given."

They were going backwards, the discipline in that program was terrible. Let's not forget how many of his kids committed stupidity beyond stupidity. I mean let's be frank, the kind of stories that came out of there should not have come from a small town NCAA Team. Usually those can be pushed under a rug. Except they had a teammate hit someone with their car, guys getting booted, etc. So yes, I believe a firing is justified.

And let's not forget, the top 5 players in Indiana HS ball are not going to Indiana. You would think with 9 years of established relationships Crean could manage that.....

You seem to carry an axe for the Hoosiers. I am not a fan but I am not sure all that stuff you're hanging on Crean is the problem. His jr class was his undoing. Blackmon is a spoiled brat from Marion and the rest of the class is problematic. Dakich talked as a former Coach and Player about his disgust with the kids currently in the program. Loves Thomas Bryant but threw the rest under the bus. He said 2 weeks ago he would get rid of the players before they cost him his job.

POSTERS above are right . Post Samson the program was in a shambles. Crean righted the ship and acceded to fans who lusted after kids. Those kids cost him his job. Fans never liked his tan and his courtside demeanor. That did not help

If I'm an IU alum, memo to self: when you send me your donation requests, take it out of Crean's 4M buyout. You don't need my money.

Sorry, been watching IU since I was a kid. One of those things since they've had Coverdale and Co. Been tough to watch when IU leads the country in turnovers.

Nonetheless, definitely agree that junior class is his undoing, almost like the 2011 class at Ohio State. It is amazing in college athletics how one recruiting class can ruin an entire program if poorly constructed.

That one doesn't make sense. Hence why I think Crean needed to be gone. Out of the top 5 kids from Indiana the last two years, IU has landed none of them. Imagine if Ohio State did that.....oh wait.....

Again as Seth Davis said - can't see why UCLA decides to lower it's buyout to accommodate IU.

Greg Marshall's in the mix for IU. Appreciate all the basketball wives I have met along the way after seeing this one.

It's one thing for a fan to shout expletives, but the coaches wife should be a little smarter than that. Eyes are on her, she has to know that.
