Ohio men’s basketball redshirt junior guard Jaaron Simmons (Dayton, Ohio) announced his intention to declare for the 2017 NBA Draft on Monday (March 27) but will not hire an agent in order to retain his NCAA eligibility for his 2017-18 senior season.

"Jaaron's decision is a smart one in today's world of basketball," said third-year head coach Saul Phillips. "Having a clear idea of where you stand in terms of the draft is a good idea. It worked well for Tony (senior forward Antonio Campbell) last year. He got feedback that allowed him to improve dramatically over the summer, and Jaaron's going to go through the same process. We are extremely supportive of Jaaron's decision to declare for the draft."

Simmons can attend workouts scheduled by NBA teams and is eligible to compete in the NBA Draft Combine on May 9-14 in Chicago, if selected. The deadline to withdraw from the NBA Draft and return for his senior year is May 24.
