so many times we just see one side of things.

As close as I am to things I am never quite ready when someone pulls back the curtain. There is a lot that goes on that no one ever really knows about. As i listened to this I was impressed by the open and honest repartee. Many an evening sitting and listening to guys talk but never expect to hear that on the radio.

Worth a listen if you have 5 minutes and really want to gain a bit of insight.

Agreed - good share. I wish we could hear Dakich over the airwaves here. I really like his commentary.

Ha ha ...you would be surprised how many of my friends in the coaching ranks from GA to PA to where ever put it on as background while they work . I also know of guys in Columbus that out him on to avoid the daily dose of local Bucknut radio

http://www.1070thefan.com / Hit the little red tab top right that says 1070 .Somewhere on there is a link to podcasts to hone in on specific segments. http://www.1070thefan.com/blogs/dan-dakich-show/butlers-c... Chris is on every Wednesday at 1230. Good stuff.

I don't agree with a some of what he says but using his background as a player, as a MAC coach understanding the mid major plight and his ability to call a spade a spade is pretty entertaining and insightful.

Local radio in Columbus, other than Anthony Rothman, is simply unlistenable. I listen to Lance McAlister on 700 WLW a ton during basketball and baseball seasons. But, I can't handle the Cincy mindset against Marvin, so I tune out during football season. As much as I love iHeart and TuneIn for game listening, I should use it more for talk radio with examples like this.

amazing story coming out of Doyel...

You cincy folk may remember him, He moved to Indy and 2 weeks after getting here he started calling for Crean's head. Continued right up to the NIT loss last week.

In an amazing turn he writes this column. http://www.thestarpress.com/story/sports/columnists/gregg... /

It is almost surreal how much Crean has become a hero here in the grace that he has shown in accepting the firing. Between the interview above and this columm most here have a new found respect that they never had as the angry mob egged on by the social media and the newspaper pundits

He's a loudmouth clown. And he proved it yet again when he got in a twitter spat with a former national player of the year, calling him "son" "clown"and claimed he'd never worked hard.

Dan would do well to watch what his mentor has become.. bitter and isolated. He's an old man yelling at clouds. He's now drawn the ire of Tom Izzo and Frank Kaminsky recently.

Kaminsky would've put up 35 on Dakich. Dakich doesn't belong in the same paragraph as Izzo.

He's real good at saying inflammatory things, treating reporters as sub humans and quitting coaching positions 24 hours into the job, though.

Since I'm unfamiliar, who is his mentor that you're referring to?

I don't portend to speak for him Country but I took it as RMK...Coach Knight. DD does not have a rosy relationship with his mentor and takes time to call coach out for the way he is treating IU and Bloomington. The last thing I would ever think DD would do is have time to become bitter...he laughs at himself too much.

Getting out of coaching is the best thing he ever did he maintains. He is open and honest about the reasons he did not take the WVU job. That discussion is fascinating in itself. He goes from talking about pedicures with Rebecca Lobo to the Convo about Tom Crean's motivation for coaching and philosophy of life. That he laughs about it and digs for stories beneath the surface is entertaining, revealing and gives the everyday "slap" a look behind the curtain. He admits it takes "work to live life when you're as dumb" as he is. Part of being successful is realizing more about what you're not and less noise about who you are....
