Ohio rolls past Buffalo to extend streak to 4

Bobcats put 5 players in double figures

ATHENS – Ohio pushed its winning streak to four games with an 85-61 rout of Buffalo on Tuesday night at The Convo.

The balanced Bobcats (15-11, 7-6 Mid-American Conference) put five players in double figures, led by James Elmore and Dwight Wilson with 15 points each. Jaylin Hunter scored 14 points, and Miles Brown and DeVon Baker had 11 each.

Ohio led 34-22 at halftime and only took off from there, scoring the first seven points of the second half. A Ben Roderick 3-pointer make it 41-22.

Buffalo only got as close as 41-30 with 16:27 left to play, but Ohio got the lead back to 19 by the midway point of the second half, 59-40 on a Hunter jumper. The game was no closer than 17 the rest of the night.

The Bulls held an early 11-6 lead, but the Bobcats tied the game at 13 on an AJ Brown 3-pointer and took the lead for good in the middle of the first half on a Baker jumper that made it 17-15. Ohio’s advantage reached double digits on an Elmore free throw, and a Gabe Wiznitzer dunk at the end of the half added to it.

Curtis Jones and Jonnivius Smith finished with 14 points each for the Bulls. Isaiah Adams scored 10 points.

Ohio shot 46.9% for the night, while Buffalo finished at just 34.4%, including 27.6% in the first half.

The Bobcats try to extend their winning streak to five when they hit the road to face Central Michigan at 2 p.m. Saturday.
