Hot-shooting Ohio wins big at Delaware

All 5 starters score in double figures


NEWARK, Del. – Ohio shot 52.4% and rolled to a 95-76 victory against Delaware on Wednesday evening at the Bob Carpenter Center.

All five Bobcats starters scored in double figures, led by AJ Clayton with a career-high 23 points. He went 9 of 9 at the foul line, as Ohio connected on 20 of 21 free throws in the game. Dwight Wilson had a double-double of 16 points and 13 rebounds.

Delaware (8-5) led 13-9 about four minutes into the game, but Ohio (7-5) took over with a 20-0 run over the next seven minutes, pushing out to a 29-13 lead on a Wilson layup.

The rest of the game was fairly even, but the Bobcats were in control, including 51-34 at halftime. Ohio’s lead was 20 at 59-39 on a Clayton layup with 17:27 remaining. The Blue Hens got to within 65-53 with 12:47 to go and as close as 11 at 78-67 with 7:17 to play.

The Bobcats put the game away with a 15-4 run that gave them their biggest lead of 93-71 in the final minute.

AJ Brown scored 14 points with five rebounds, while both Miles Brown and Jaylin Hunter had 11 points.

Jameer Nelson Jr. paced the Blue Hens with 20 points and six rebounds. Ebby Asamoah had 17 points.

The Bobcats had a 43-29 rebounding advantage. Delaware shot 42.2% for the game.

Ohio finishes nonconference play by hosting Chicago State at 7 p.m. Dec. 30 at The Convo.
